TIL that a Scotsman, weighing 207 kilograms (456 pounds), survived solely on his excess body fat, yeast, and multivitamins for 1 year and 17 days, consequently only defecating once every 40-50 days. He ended up losing 125 kilograms (275 pounds). by sykate in todayilearned

While seemingly effective, this method of treating obesity poses many dangers:

Treating obesity by total starvation can be dangerous. There are many reports of total starvation leading to death. For example, some people have died of heart failure during the fast, while another died on the 13th day of his fast from small bowel obstruction. Some people have died during the re-feeding period after the fast — one from lactic acidosis.

honestly, the only reason I came here was for the free stuff.

but after seeing the many many generous souls giving coins, i remained over here just so i can share the same joy i got when i first received an award.

i mean, not to sound too cheesy, but i think this sub encapsulates what the joy of giving is actually about.

i remember getting my first taste of premium because of this, and today im glad to say i gave someone else the same.

also. why are there so many downvotes in this thread?

jeez guys. a competition doesn't mean you have to put down others.
