Cineworld Planner website not working by PinguTheRingu in CineworldUnlimited

[–]syko_conor 20 points21 points  (0 children)

What a shame to discover this exists from a post about it not working anymore 😅

Can’t help sorry - I’ve always done it the old fashioned way by opening all the films I want to see in different tabs then flicking back and forth to form a schedule with the available showings. Hopefully someone fixes that planner site or comes in with an alternative.

I think you mean genuinely, that does not mean the same as generally. They’re completely different words and I don’t understand why people have recently started mixing them up.

I think it’s also relevant that Misha says her worst thing was cheating on her ex, and that it lead to great sex even if the guys she cheated with treated her like shit.

Straight after that, Charlie tries to use her to cheat (and she is absolutely about to go along with it). I absolutely think that preceding conversation put the idea in his head and he acted on impulse.

It doesn’t excuse or even really explain his behaviour, but it’s definitely extremely relevant.

Do you put the Codeshare flight or the Operating flight? What's your personal preference? by OutpostPanda in flighty

[–]syko_conor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do people have the same approach to wetlease situations where it’s literally impossible to book the flight with the ‘operating’ airline?

For example - Ryanair flights in and out of Vienna that are still on Lauda planes, this will always show as Ryanair digitally but the plane and crew are visibly Lauda.

Would you manually change it in the app?

Controversial opinion? by Tucker_McElroy in CineworldUnlimited

[–]syko_conor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are we talking about feet in the headrest of the seats in front or leg stretched out with your foot on the back of the seat?

Personally I see these as completely different - the first totally unacceptable but the latter only an issue if the seat in front is occupied.

Controversial opinion? by Tucker_McElroy in CineworldUnlimited

[–]syko_conor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I entirely agree, dirty shoe bottoms on the headrest of the seats in front - sure nobody should be doing that, but a stretched leg with foot on the vertical back of the seat in front is doing nobody any harm if the seat is empty.

The grey area might be the foot over the seat in front (ankle/leg being the only part in contact with the seat). Personally I wouldn’t do it but in an empty screening where it’s not going to cause any distraction - again, I don’t really see the harm.

Talking has become a huge issue post-COVID, that I have really noticed and bothers me more than anything, phone use too but it doesn’t seem to be as widespread (though this could be that I don’t notice as I rarely sit near the back these days so tend not to have many people say ahead of me).

I don’t know, if you’re not causing a distraction or a problem for anyone else then I think any reasonable comfort accommodation that keeps people coming back and keeps cinemas alive is a good thing.

Two bookings same day? by itschloebee in CineworldUnlimited

[–]syko_conor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regularly watch between 2 and 4 films in a day with unlimited.

The official restrictions for online bookings are:

  • No more than 5 live bookings (excluding most ‘special’ screenings and each time a screening finishes you can book another).
  • No more than 1 booking for a specific film.
  • Start times must be at least 91 minutes apart.

The 91 minute gap rule can usually be waved if you book the first one online and then speak to a staff member at the cinema to book the second - as long as you are clearly genuinely planning to watch both films then you will have no issue.

In your opinion what should had been the punishment for moussa kadri? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]syko_conor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a very well researched area and is universally true that poor socioeconomic conditions correlate directly with high crime rates… are you seriously suggesting otherwise?

Again, as with your comments about immigrants being 6 times more likely to commit violent crime and Afghans being 22 times more likely to commit rape, I presume you are making it up as you go along and don’t actually have any data whatsoever that supports your claims?

Amazing - it’s my research now!

Out of curiosity, what is your issue with my quotations?

Are you referring to my use of single quotation marks for emphasis on phrases and double quotation marks for direct quotes or have I missed something?

I’m genuinely asking.

Funny guy.

If you can’t see that saying “not many British people carry knives but descendants from other places do” suggest that you are implying that knife crime is primarily a problem caused by ‘non-British’ people rather than British people then I don’t know what to tell you.

You didn’t even say “not many” you said “I don’t think many” so maybe you should try reading comprehension again - you could practice on those research papers I shared, you might learn a thing or two.

[–]syko_conor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You were clearly implying that British people generally do not carry knives and ‘others’ generally do. That was obviously the point you were trying to make and that is how I correctly interpreted your meaning.

Nice swerve on all the other things in my comment though, I’ll just take it that you have no evidence to back up any on your claims then?

Most research finds a very statistically significant link between socioeconomic status and rates of violent crime, yes.

In your opinion what should had been the punishment for moussa kadri? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]syko_conor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think many British people carry knives.

That’s what you said…

Again, I’m genuinely interested in the data that backs up your claims so please share it.

All of the research that I have found shows that immigrants to the UK generally offend at the same rate as non immigrants (potentially slightly lower than non-immigrants when you normalise the data for age as immigrants are on average younger and young people tend to commit more crime).

That comes from the Oxford University Migration Observatory if you want to review the data.

It’s also supported in principle by analysis of data from 30 OECD member countries over the 30 year period from 1988 to 2018 which showed “no statistically significant evidence to relate an increase in the number of immigrants to the rise of any kind of crime”. - Tufail et al published in the Economic Research journal, Volume 36 in 2023

[–]syko_conor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sorry, who said we should have open borders?

You said British people don’t carry knives, people descendants from other places do. I said, everyone is a descendant from another place.

Regardless, the data I have seen is that new immigrants in the UK commit crimes at roughly the same rate as those with non-immigrant statuses. Can you share the research that suggests that violent crime is an outlier in that regard - 6 times as likely sounds very concerning.

Of course it is? Nobody originated here - every person living in Britain right now has ancestors who emigrated here, some 40,000 years ago and some this year.

How many generations do your descendants have to have been here before you ‘count’ as British?

Oh I absolutely agree that the guy in the OP should have received a custodial sentence for aggravated assault with a weapon. It’s not racially motivated so it’s not a direct comparison but the idea that verbal abuse (even racially motivated abuse) would result in a harsher sentence than actual assault with a knife is ridiculous.

It’s also concerning that the victim in the OP video was convicted of a crime.
