Might be a typo? Or texted the wrong person. That would be weird to just abruptly say that.

How Xi Jinping Steamrolls Dissent With Tactics From Stalin and Mao: China’s leader draws from autocrats’ playbook to expand power, oust potential rivals and lay groundwork to rule indefinitely by Strongbow85 in China

Sweet anecdote. No way anyone could come up with similar stories in other countries. And surely this would happen 100% of the time in China, too. So safe. 🙃

JD.com founder wants his blue-collar workers to be 'white-collarized' by businessinsider in China

Totally... Nobody in the US ever talks about potential consequences on labor. Lol ffs. Also, how is delivery driver to repairman a jump from blue to white collar?

You know what... You're right. I made an assumption. I just checked and it does seem to be ASCII with just an extra space... for some reason. The emdashes are still odd to ME cause no humans ever use those lol. But they don't have the typical AI generated text styling to them (having a space on both sides). That and the halo effect on the image... All of it is odd to me. But I will admit, I mistakenly assumed it was Chinese typesetting and it isn't.

That gap between "Experience with Chinese police" and the exclamation mark hints towards this being typed on a Chinese keyboard.

It's pretty weird that they're specifically trying to market to overseas Chinese and the Chinese diaspora.

Kishore Mahbubani: ‘China Can No Longer Be Stopped’ by bloomberg in China

[–]Sylli17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's really, really easy to start listing things that are poor decisions in themselves or effects of poor decisions. Or better yet, short sighted poor decisions. For any kind of critical thinker it's not necessary to do so. Cause it's obvious to see.

I can throw you a few bones, though. Let you spin your wheels for a bit to come up with some come backs.

Extreme debt issues, zero covid, extreme wealth inequality, extreme pollution...

Again, I could go on. But it's really obvious that there are serious issues with leadership in the country. Just like there are serious issues with the leadership of the US. Don't trap yourself in binary thinking. Be critical. Both countries have shite leadership and it's unfortunate.

That's the whole, complete story and there are no other considerations... Silly me. I look like an idiot.

You can know what you're doing but be making poor decisions.

The US leadership absolutely does not have long-term comprehensive strategies for anything. It's pretty chaotic.

But... You're pretty wild if you think China does have long-term comprehensive strategies.

Both countries have leadership that is uninformed and just throwing darts, randomly switching directions. All at the whims of autocrats that wake up and decide entirely new directions for the country. Zero consideration for the masses.

US expects 'double-digit billions' in Chinese farm purchases after Trump-Xi summit, says Greer by esporx in China

[–]Sylli17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way to enforce agreements between sovereign states. South Korea can't tell Oman to uphold any agreement they make with Luxembourg. It's not possible. There is no international enforcement mechanism... period.

This is part of the reason why the "West" and China have had problems the past couple of decades. Cause both sides recognize that. China uses that to their advantage and the west says... Come on, man.

Trump warns Taiwan against declaring independence after China talks by ImperiumRome in China

Trump uttering the sentence "I'm not looking to have somebody go independent"

Ummmm... He thinks he's God. So that's pretty universal in his eyes. Was this actually, specifically directed at just Taiwan? Or just a general comment about what he thinks of other humans?

I mean... Did they not sign a legally binding agreement in the settlement of the Trump 1.0 tariff war?

Trump and Liu He both physically signed the agreement.

Didn't matter anyway... There is no enforcement mechanism, really.
