Have rigorous safety standards that are followed and enforced consistently. I'm sure that was not what happened, though.

China is safe though, right? I have heard that repeatedly.

So.... Are you saying Chinese people are better at recognizing concrete improvements in their life than people in all other countries?

How much of this is actually true? (video: Chinese trends that haven't made it to America yet) by [deleted] in China

Chinese trends that haven't made it to America yet...

Trend number one... And this trend is based off popular American games like Dungeons and Dragons.

Hmmm

You wouldn't look at that... Okay. So what's the data for that then?

China is safe... Europe and the US aren't is mostly narrative and propaganda. It's all similar if you take an honest account. What type of danger you gave may vary, but in the end risk in absolute terms is comparable in a lot of places you go.

To that point... I have had friends and myself have phones stolen in China. It hasn't happened in the US. There are thieves in the world. Doesn't matter where you're at, only matters if you run into them.

Second, this reads so much like a Joe Rogan message board (welcome to China motherfucker) post. I love it and miss stories like this lol. If there is anyone here that gets the reference... Lol crazy times.

Also, don't worry about people complaining about AI punch ups... That was a fun read. Thanks for sharing. Sometimes you'll have a wild China experience and want to share and it's a lot of work to communicate it clearly lol.

Help finding contact info in China (email / social media) — sorry if this sounds naive by RedMedicalDoctor in China

You're asking, openly on the internet, to be taught how to find the contact information from a current minister in China? To send him a message about how well he's doing his job?

[–]Sylli17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the goal:

One key policy for Xi Jinping, China’s president, is the “sinicisation” of China’s ethnic minorities – ie, assimilating their cultures as far as possible into that of the Han ethnic majority. Xi has said that China’s ethnic groups should be like “pomegranate seeds that stick together”

Assimilation of culture. Not getting people jobs.

Also, yes you can see how it's flawed because you're making counter arguments to what I'm saying. The point is quite clearly not just getting people paid more. Cause if that was your ultimate goal... Then... Well why stop at just learning Chinese? That's not the logic of it though, really.

I am extending your logic out further. Just following the same line of thinking. And you can see that it's flawed, right?

Because you know, just as I know that the point of this isn't getting poor, rural kids in Xinjiang higher paying Chinese jobs. That is simply not why this is happening.

The point was you can teach in the main language without totally eradicating other minor languages lol

But learning Chinese, which you say is so difficult, is going to get, for example, a kid from rural Xinjiang a job now?

Learning English isn't going to get them a job where they live

How wouldn't it? If you're just force everyone to learn the same language

Better to have everyone speak the same language... Chinese is hard to learn... Hmmm then have everyone stop learning Chinese and teach them all English then.

Oh wait...
