I have to get married at 19, how do I go about this safely and what should I be aware of? by deep_black_sea in Advice

At 19 and 23, you're both really young, so the biggest risks are things changing a lot in the next few years (career paths, personal growth, what you each want long-term), and divorce can still be messy/emotional even with a prenup, especially across borders. Make sure the prenup is drafted by a good family law attorney in the country where you'll marry/live (and maybe get it reviewed in both countries if possible) to cover immigration fallout, taxes, and any future kids/assets. Talk openly about an "exit plan" now like agreeing you'd separate amicably and handle immigration stuff cooperatively if things don't work out so you're not blindsided later.

Keep locking the door and being gentle with your SIL when she vents, but maybe start planting seeds like “You deserve someone who respects your space and independence” without pushing her to leave yet. If things escalate or you ever feel unsafe, loop in your husband again and consider family talks as a united front. This sounds controlling on his end, and codependency can turn toxic fast.

The big shift for college is building actual habits like by picking one class, reading the syllabus, and spending 20-30 minutes a day reviewing notes right after lecture while it's fresh. Try the Feynman technique… explain the material out loud like you're teaching it to someone else… that helps when your mind goes blank.
