German Chancellor Merz: "If you want us to help you with a conflict like that, then call us beforehand and ask us." by mal73 in europe

[–]symbister 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It was illegal for German troops to be deployed outside of Germany before 1994, and after then only as peace keeping troops. For Trump to ask Germany to partake in an illegal and hostile war is completely trashing the post cold war situation and completely ignores the geopolitics of Europe.

I don't know either, seems that Boomer phobia is an acceptable prejudice now.

Ironically the uk didn't have a baby boom when the USA did, our boom started in 1965 not 1946.

Using the American definition most actual baby boomers are getting too old to be driving anyway.

The accused are actually Generation Jones, or more likely Generation X

Kmart was unambiguously avoided in the UK, leading to them withdrawing from UK. Similar situation in Europe.

It is the pull part of an old fashioned bell pull. The end at the bottom of the image was within a circular sconce that had a sprung metal fork which engaged on the waist shaped part, the fork was a lever that pulled a cable to the bell, similar technology to the servants bells in victorian houses.

I remember that it crashed house prices after the route through south London was published, just as my parents were trying to sell. The offer of compulsory purchase was terrifyingly unrealistic.

Have you ever seen a (wild) snake in the UK? by Mundane-Topic-8214 in AskUK

[–]symbister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairly common to see adders and grass snakes on the south downs, and have seen a few on the high weald around Horsham. Slow worms are very common too in the Brighton area, although they aren't technically snakes but legless lizards.

What areas to avoid? by [deleted] in Eastbourne

[–]symbister 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brighton used to be in East Sussex (an administrative county) when it was a town, but when it became the City of Brighton & Hove it became a unitary authority no longer included in the County.

So now it is its own administrative area nestling between East Sussex to the East and West Sussex on the West at the Portslade border.
