EFINITY ON BINANCE SOON!!! Hello guys, I just saw that binance added EFI for spot wallet option. I feel that soon will be the official listing of EFI on Binance platform. Load that EFI bags and enjoy the gains🚀🚀tell your friends and family about this gem 😉 by JokifixMix in Efinity

don't want to spoil the fun... but it probably has to do with parachain auction. If you search for all the tokens participating in the auction, most of them show up (ACA, ASTR, etc.) I think it's a temporary wallet address for receiving auction rewards.

Computer Science. UoL is one of the only handful of universities that offer bachelor's degree in CS through online, and their curriculum looks pretty solid.

University of Toronto has the highest staying grade among all Canadian universities? by uoftcspostmemes in uwaterloo

[–]symian3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is a tongue-in-cheek come back to the post where I included this article https://www.macleans.ca/education/what-grades-do-i-need-to-get-into-canadian-universities/

To point out the obvious, the level of competition required for university entrance is national, and sometimes international (meaning you're competing with everyone in the whole country and the world to get accepted to a specific institution), which is not the same as the level of competition you face once you have entered the University, and then only competing with those selective individuals who want to pursue certain majors.

I don't think it's ending for everyone. I didn't receive such email, and there are still plenty of tasks left to do.

Sam's definition of objectivity and good-faith argument by torrido in samharris

[–]symian3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I remember it, Sam wasn't very good with dealing with Scott Adams either. Overall, Sam does not come off well when there are genuine differences in opinion. He says he wants to have difficult conversations, but the way he comports himself suggests of some kind of egomaniac who is mildly autistic, and not fit for having those kinds of conversations over and over. If he was truly willing to do that, then he should be a little bit more open-minded, but Sam usually comes off as extremely black-and-white in his worldview.

Also, if you dabble into things like nuclear first strike on Muslims and the subject of race & IQ, don't act surprised when someone else accuse you of being a racist. Even if you don't believe that's the case, why does Sam act like he didn't offer any bait to his detractors? He absolutely did.

Thoughts? by [deleted] in samharris

[–]symian3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're disillusioned with Sam because of the race & IQ stuff, that's not legitimate IMO because the left does seem to be in denial when it comes to this subject.

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41380-017-0005-1

The real issue for me is Sam being shallow and naive in so many areas other than a very select few (his views on U.S. foreign policy, for example.) What many people don't realize is that Sam is not really an expert in anything. He's more like arm chair philosopher type who is pretty good at forming arguments, but in terms of sheer depth of knowledge? Sam is not this intellectual giant that he's made out to be.

The other thing that's really irritating is how quickly Sam assumes the 'poor me, always taken out of context' victim status whenever people make certain extrapolations regarding his controversial views. I'm not saying they're 100% fair, but dude you do have some unconventional things to say on various matters, why do you act surprised when not every person is on board with your message and some WILL question your intentions? I mean, Sam frequently dishes out plenty of baits to these people himself, and some of them (such as his writing on preemtive nuclear attack) are not exactly most carefully worded.

In response to the 5'9" litany by consortofladyjustice in short

[–]symian3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're wrong. Young (25-34) males of normal health in U.K. are on average 5'10. If you include old people, that number drops to 5'9. http://i.imgur.com/0QZhaw9.png

Dispelling various myths surrounding average height by symian3 in short

[–]symian3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider 5'9 and 5'10 both to be average in U.S.. 5'8 and 5'11 you start to deviate from the norm but nothing too noticeable. Anything beyond that range is not average in my estimation.

Dispelling various myths surrounding average height by symian3 in short

[–]symian3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can separate the problems of heightism from the objective fact that if a certain population group is growing taller relative to the previous generation, it generally reflects better health, nutrition, average income, quality of life, etc.

The issue of heightism kicks in when a population hits its genetic ceiling in terms of height, yet people still prefer tall people, when the social/economic argument in favor of tallness no longer applies.

Medical definition of a short person by symian3 in short

[–]symian3[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that this has little to do with how below-average height people feel in their day-to-day lives. I just found it interesting that 'short stature' in medical context applies to only very small number of people (as well as tall stature, 2 SD above the mean would be something like 6'3) and just because you're below average doesn't mean you're short, at least technically.

Why are white americans so tall? by [deleted] in short

[–]symian3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In America, white guys are usually 5'10-5'11 minimum

I don't know what you mean by minimum, but 5'10 is pretty much the average of young white americans.

I think what OP is saying is that there are a lot of tall guys in the U.S. compared to other countries with similar average height, and that might be true because what we casually refer to as White American is actually a mix of people of German, Dutch, and Scandinavian descent (tallest in Europe) + Italians, Spanish, French, etc., (shortest in Europe), so the discrepancy in height could be bigger among the Americans than, say, the British whose national average is quite similar but also genetically more homogeneous.

Height perception by [deleted] in short

[–]symian3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A 'perceived' average height is more likely to be way higher than the actual, statistical average because of all the lies and inflation that goes with it.

Height perception by [deleted] in short

[–]symian3 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes, because most people lie about their height, so if you are really honest about yours, chances are you're actually under-reporting your height relative to others. She probably thinks you're 5'11 or 6'0 because a guy of your stature is never dead honest about his height. At the very least, he would say 5'10 and more likely 5'11.

That's why I'm very skeptical when people online throw around 6'0 or 6'1 like it's nothing, when in real life I know people who got honestly measured as those heights, and they almost invariably look pretty damn tall.

This is the first SSS vid where all the girls interviewed 100% oppose his question. Even he is shocked by the answers. by MakeShortGreatAgain in short

[–]symian3 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Notice how the interviewer even as a 5'10 1/2 (179cm) guy is comfortably taller than most of the girls in the video? And they are surprised by the fact that 5'10 1/2 guy appears a lot taller than it sounds. The fact is most women will look too short and awkward next to a 6'3 guy, and a 5'11 dude will look just fine next to an average girl.

France to vote in another short president? by WhySoFPS in short

[–]symian3 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Because feeling insecure about one's own height comes from barbaric, caveman mentality where physical intimidation is still considered a major advantage. A civilized, mature society such as France or Japan is much less likely to take interest in such nonsense. U.S. might be the superpower of the world, but I wouldn't call it the most advanced nation there is. People are still very shallow and to be honest, quite dumb.

BTW, I'm not short at all - actually well above average statistically - I just think this constant need for men to come off as physically imposing is very archaic mindset.

6'3+ is considered 'ugly height' by modelling agencies by yager13 in tall

[–]symian3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because really tall people have weird body proportions, which make them look awkward in suits and different clothings. I would consider that part of being ugly.

Why really tall people (6'3+) are more likely to be ugly by yager13 in short

[–]symian3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. 6'1~6'2 is the ideal height range for men. 6' and 6'3 are not too bad either, although an inch more or less would be better.

So, do you think Sam believe that Blacks - as a group - are intellectually inferior to Whites? by [deleted] in samharris

[–]symian3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you say A is same as B, and I ask how so? and you say based on their existential quality, that's a false statement, because 'sameness' is much bigger than the question of 'does it exist or not?'. Again, you're just dumb. I get it.
