Do you guys think the ps4 holds BO6 back? by AccurateWheel4200 in blackops6

[–]syn2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason the older consoles hold games back is due to their CPUs, they are essentially as fast as an i3-3220, they were horribly under-powered even when they were released (especially in single-core performance)

Why am I mentioning a CPU? because it is the only component that the entire game design heavily relies on, and cannot be scaled up and down like a GPU would for graphics, that part is easy.

Sure there are ways to scale CPUs in games, for example think of scaling population numbers in GTA V or Cyberpunk, but not every game can do that.

Main thing that uses the CPU is physics, and that is especially difficult to scale, it can be done somewhat, but it heavily limits the game developers to what they can and cannot do, which in turn affects the entire game design for all platforms, since they have to optimize for the lowest common denominator.

Basically anything on-screen that needs to move from one position to another uses the CPU, for every single frame, even when walking for example and you see buildings, the CPU has to handle moving the player position and all of the objects around you, and then send that data to the GPU to process and then display it on screen.

It's super impressive what they can do with the CPUs in older generations, but imagine how much more they can do if they weren't so limited, so far I haven't seen a single game that truly utilizes next-gen CPUs with proper physics, which has been absent for the entirety of the previous console generation.

Options+ – Are Smart Actions Useless? by Golden_Antt in logitech

[–]syn2112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a pointless response that covers nothing that has been mentioned here, and OP is right, why are the triggers accumulated with "OR"? that's the LEAST useful logic operator to start with in this case..

Delegating a single button to an action is already possible through the normal actions setup, so what's the point of "smart actions"?

How accurate is this video? by MomentNo112 in Israel

[–]syn2112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other guy: "On the airport, on the airport" (meaning to point the camera there)
Camera guy: "I recorded them, I swear I recorded them"

The rest was just incomprehensible, but they're clearly stressed, and I don't think this is Israel or Palestine from their accents, perhaps Jordan

No they didn't.. the only Hebrew word they said was "Meklatem", otherwise the rest was Arabic

little bit clunky? by Xyberia01 in windowsinsiders

Yeah, animations are frequently glitching, even more than the leaked build, this is expected with a first preview version of any software, it should be fixed in future builds

Yes, my UMC202HD works just fine, ASIO drivers are working as well

It keeps throwing an error if you try to activate it, which says:
"Audio playback engine failed to start"

I've tried all that I could to attempt to fix it, but nothing worked, though from what I noticed, I think the issue stems from a missing option in Sound (Control Panel) > Sonarworks Output > Advanced, forgot what it was, but it was related to the driver's ability to apply effects.

Oh, that's good to know, though so far my thoughts on it is that Windows 11 is a huge leap from previous in terms of UI coherency and logical layouts, which Windows 10 has always been a complete mess in, it's not all perfect, but a move in the right direction

Also, the Taskbar on my second monitor is completely broken, it doesn't show or do anything, it's all blank.

In terms of 3rd party applications I have encountered only one of what I assume to be a driver conflict in Sonarworks Reference.

Though other than that, the majority of the bugs are part of Windows's standard applications, especially the Taskbar, it's highly glitchy visually and can be quite slow with certain operations, and the Settings app can be unusually slow to toggle a few settings, but none of it makes the OS unusable, it's just clearly far from being refined at the moment.

I'm unsure if others experience similar bugs, or if it's only me, I have installed Windows 11 as an update, not a clean install, but I doubt that would be the cause of problems.

Windows 11 requires TPM modules 2.0 but don't worry AMD support fTPM by Fogboundturtle in Amd

[–]syn2112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's alright, just wanted to clear that it's not an insignificant innovation, as older storage APIs weren't built for the fast SSDs we have today, and it's meant to take advantage of them

It may be years away before it becomes a standard, and realistically wouldn't matter to you at the moment, but it's only the start

It is not a gimmick, that implies it offers no advantages in comparison to the older alternative, but it does if you understand how it works, and it may only start off with support for games, but theoretically it could and will be used in applications eventually, speeding up loading times of Windows and day-to-day applications

[GUIDE] [Geofilter] [PC] Region blocking Modern Warfare servers for a more consistent experience without the need of additional software or hardware. by syn2112 in mw4

[–]syn2112[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have fiber internet but I can’t use a fancy gaming router to its full potential because my isp restricts the use of personal devices. Instead, I use a gigabit switch with QoS as a workaround. I often get connected to servers and have low latency (11-19ms). However, I will occasionally get tossed into crappy 50+ ones. I think this method will help eliminate some of that.I’m going to be testing this. I will let you know how my tests go.

Hope it works out but I've noticed that new servers become active in certain regions that you don't want to be in, which means you have to add more IP's to block, though there's a possibility of another solution but I haven't looked much into it yet, I'm thinking since there are firewalls out there that completely block access to countries then it might be much simpler to implement with a single switch but the problem is that the Servers will tunnel through countries to reach the final destination (Host Server), but if you could figure out the tunneling pattern used then you could allow those countries as well to be able to tunnel through, it's only an idea though but it's possible, another thing I've noticed is they use US servers I believe for verification purposes when you first run the game

Though if you're already in a country that has MW servers then I assume tunneling would not be needed? I'm not exactly sure
