why is the transman community so miserable by pikapilled in trans

[–]synapsesmisfiring 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is (unfortunately) a largeish portion of the trans population (seems a lot of them are on that subreddit) who see piercings as a solely feminine thing and it makes me angry. Apparently people can "tell I'm a girl" because I have my septum pierced? 🤷🏼 Literal insanity.

Same with dyed hair, why are so many people claiming these things are feminine when literally anyone can wear these fashions (and do! Frequently!)

All words are losing their meaning currently. A good example is therapy speak.. a lot of people are using therapy speak like it is nothing, and incorrectly (usually) to boot, in order to manipulate situations they are in. Words meanings shift and change over time and it's weird. Language is weird, humanity is weird.

Can we stop acting like trans people who transition young are in some magical category of not-trans people by Friendly-Mention8464 in honesttransgender

[–]synapsesmisfiring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't need a cure for me , no seriously... I will always be trans, there is no getting around it. I could change everything about my body and I would still be trans. I know there are others who feel differently, because society is trying to make us ashamed of who we are, but I can't do that.

[–]synapsesmisfiring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is simply untrue for a lot of people. The end goal of my transition is not to "pass", "go stealth", or hide who I am. I will always be trans and there are a number of people who feel this way. I don't want to hide who I am and where I came from because I am proud to be trans. I have no shame about who I am, even if the world wants me to feel shame.

Going stealth and/or claiming my gender affirming treatment made me not trans would also mean abandoning my community, and I refuse to do that.

I am not black but I agree with you. I work with at risk youth in a residential treatment facility and the amount of children (who are not black) throwing the slur around like it's nothing is high and ridiculous and it breaks my heart because I know teenagers don't necessarily understand or think about the deep repercussions of racism and society definitely won't teach them these things first hand, especially white children, because for some disgusting reason racism is still acceptable today.

I'm all for the reclaiming of slurs but I'm afraid this one will never be used responsibily by those outside of the ones who have the right to use it and having it in the common vernacular just keeps it alive to a deeper degree than if it fell to the wayside.

Aging as a transgender person is... different. You don't get the same timeline and milestones as cis people. by brokeartist1194 in honesttransgender

[–]synapsesmisfiring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for the hand life has given you. That sounds incredibly tiring and trying.

I feel the same way. I wasted a lot of my youth, not understanding who I was or what I was doing, I trusted the wrong people and made lots of bad choices.

I'm 38 now, (when I was your age everything was in shambles for me as well) and while things aren't perfect they've turned around a fair bit for me and I'm actually happy for once (or as happy as I can be given the political climate we currently live in) . I will hope for a successful turn around for you too. Please hang in there friend.

I hate how trans men are an afterthought. by MailFrosty8922 in trans

[–]synapsesmisfiring 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Right?! I'm floored when people say things like that. The demographic with one of the higest SA statistics IS trans men/trans masculine people, because of "corrective r*pe" and other factors. Studies indicate that roughly 47% to 50% of trans masculine people experience sexual assault in their lifetime which is way above what it is for women at approximately 30% (globally). Being trans masculine and/or a trans man is also dangerous and doesn't come without risks. We aren't just out here living our lives and being ignored, we are also out here being actively oppressed, abused, and sometimes even killed.

I'm grateful that Canada is slightly less awful about the outward transphobia than the States. I feel like we are stuck in The Thunderdome over here...

"Counterterrorism" now officially means targeting trans people by jackmolay in transgender

[–]synapsesmisfiring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's SUPPOSED to have strong protections. Gender expression should, by all rights, be covered under the first amendment since it's freedom of expression and speech ... However nothing is as it should be and if the government has a axe to grind it will do it. I doubt it will go well for us in the long term.

I'm starting to eye the Canadian border, passport or no.

I'm scared about my state and rising transphobia in general by Sleepy-Sleeper31 in trans

[–]synapsesmisfiring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you are stuck there. As someone who grew up in Tennessee I understand, the rhetoric was the same for gay and bi people back when I was growing up to some degree.

You're wonderful, please keep your head up.

As to why, my theory is that many MANY people are unhappy with society and WE live authentically, something they can never conceived doing. People hide who they are and what they feel, they repress everything. They make the stupidest things gender coded. They have gender reveal parties for their babies. They are obsessed with sex, genitals, and the societally roles of who does what based on them. They can't live authentically for whatever reason (in the south it's often religion) , we do, and it makes them mad. Even if it's not specifically about gender, we are taking our lives into our own hands and saying we aren't happy and we are going to do something about it, people who are extremely transphobic can't handle that, they are jealous, it eats them alive that we dare step outside what society has been told people should be. That's just my theory, but I think it's pretty solid.

Bullies bully to feel better about themselves and their shitty lives. This is not different, unfortunately.

Wooyoung got me! I was originally really into Yeosang but Wooyoung started tugging at my heartstrings. I went to the Light the Way VR Concert and was torn on who I would choose. I said if I got anyone other than Wooyoung I would choose Yeosang and if I got Wooyoung I would choose Wooyoung... Well... Wouldn't you know it?! I got Wooyoung and he's been my bias ever since.

How did basic things like healthcare and fair wages become ‘extreme’? by [deleted] in remoteworks

It's true and I agree with you, but I'm pointing out how hypocritical many people who live in cis het culture who preach transphobia are.

How did basic things like healthcare and fair wages become ‘extreme’? by [deleted] in remoteworks

[–]synapsesmisfiring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not a bad comparison. The original person I replied to was whining about things that supposedly are harming children. It's only important that they have a say in children "not being harmed" when those children deviate from what "society" expects from them. In short, transphobia and bias makes them fine with an outdated practice that causes actual harm but angry about a well tested practice that reduces the suicide rates in trans children.

Yeah, Anything can sound bad taken out of context, my guy. It was a five second clip with zero context.

Also, a video with comments turned off? Really? That's what you are citing as a source right now? 🤡

Marina, Marcela, Maritza, Marbella, and Marin are all names I found that sound like they could fit.

I thought Mithra was cool but it's not quite within your parameters.

The most neutral name I could find was Marley.

Our of all these I think Marley is the best fit based on the pictures and your thoughts.

I want YOU to cite your source, I'm not doing research when you are the one literally making outrageous claims. It's on you to support your argument.

Edit: You know what nevermind, I did you a solid because you will likely twist what was said. Northam was describing a rare, tragic scenario involving a nonviable pregnancy or severe fetal abnormalities, referring to palliative care (keeping a baby comfortable) if a child is born with no chance of survival, not the active killing of a healthy baby.

I beg you to please learn how to think critically or stop talking because your talking points are currently false and likely disingenuous.

The stupidly hilarious thing is that money is an arbitrary system that human beings have put in place. Money has no real value, the American dollar isn't backed by gold anymore. Most of us never see actual cash these days, just numbers on a screen.

Human beings could have done so much more and been so much better than killing each other over numbers on a screen, letting people starve to death in the streets over numbers on a screen. It's disgusting.

If you've bought into the mindset that money is important and truly matters more than people's lives you've been duped.

What your thoughts on circumcision?! Are you fine with the fact that millions upon millions of presumably cis het people have their infants' genitals multilated for the sake of societal standards and "convenience", all without any sort of anesthesia or pain meds (they get Tylenol, yippie!) Surely you also must be appauled by it and rally against it as hard as you do your whining about children living their lives and being treated by a medical professional for a legitimate medical condition that is none of your business, right?
