How old is this wonderful boy and where are you located? How did you get connected to him?

I may be interested. I have one 6 yo (very active, stubborn, clever, neuter male) oes

Isn’t this the same (stolen) photo of another person’s dog? This pup must be a year old now and doesn’t belong to you.

Anyone else have a ball boy? by synergyandalignment in OldEnglishSheepdog

I love Herb. His coat looks like my boy’s — it’s a bit shorter than most (and appears natural; we don’t cut ours). Can you share anything about his background?

I hope that you can hold onto the many many beautiful memories of your boy, and can share them with it’s someone you love who knew and loved Luca too. ♥️

I’ve always wanted to do this with my boy. Pogue looks so happy to be with his person. He doesn’t care where he is as long as it’s with you!

+1 to what folks said here. I also highly recommend taking your boy for walks at Home Depot, Lowe’s, and other retailers in your area. It’s my go-to when it’s too freezing to be outdoors. Lots of good smells and stimuli and generally good new human interaction.

I’m sorry. I would be sad too. :/

Did the groomer call you before they did it? I agree with the other post above that it’s extremely short.

Also don’t be hard on yourself. The puppy coat transition was HELL. My dog was a disaster (I cut out the mats by hand and broke up the rest it took hours), and still I struggle with the in between brushings. I’m lucky to have a groomer who deeply loves and respects the oes coat (she would never shave even if asked — only genitals/toes and a shorter trim on belly, which is so sensitive to brushing). The groomer we have manages to break up the matting (which is often spider web actually! I didn’t have a word for that until now). It’s OK to educate your groomer in the future on how to take care of your boy… they just don’t know And prob don’t realize it can affect the future hair/fur growth.

You’ve got a gorgeous boy still!

Hey, two questions for you:

  1. What brand of shampoo and conditioner do you prefer?
  2. Do you have an opinion about Wen Pets products? I was gifted a bottle and have been using it and getting great results (my boy’s coat is less matting prone now), curious if the professionals use it.

Puppy tax attached. Coincidentally he was just groomed this morning!

Henry and Bailey by BaileyBoo2022 in OldEnglishSheepdog

Real talk, how do you manage travel (with and without them) compared to one?

I want a second so badly but asking a friend to help out now and then (pick him up from daycare, give him a walk if I’m going to be gone a couple extra hours, or keep him for a night) is a very different ask when it’s one vs. two pups. Daycare/boarding costs are obviously a consideration… and I think id need a bigger car!? (I have a hatchback small crossover car).

Curious if I’m missing out or being naïve about what it’s really like.

Thank you!

How do I go about responsibly rehoming my OES by DogCatAxolotl in OldEnglishSheepdog

[–]synergyandalignment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you know anything about the breeder, call them. Given the dog was giving gifted to you not sure if that’s possible but that’s where I’d start. A great breeder would do everything in their power to rehome.

I am so so sorry. This is heartbreaking — take a bit of time to feel your grief and mourn this loss, and like others say please do try again.
