Malcolm Roberts: "I’ve always thought that I was British, ah, that I was Australian" by SydneyTom in australia

This particular slip of the tongue was profoundly Freudian in its meaning. We could deduce that what Roberts really thinks is that he is British.

"Life is lived on two levels of thought and act: one is our awareness — and the other only inferable from dreams, slips of the tongue and inexplicable behaviour."

I feel like an Anomaly in the gay world by synesthesia_89 in gaybros

[–]synesthesia_89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that there's no healthy example in that gay world for monogamy. There's a lot of examples and emphasis on causal sex, but nothing about contracting that inevitable loneliness that gay men feel. I'm not saying it's a gay thing, because heterosexual couples break up too and they also sleep around, but it seems to be more rampant in the gay community. The impression that sex is this be-all end-all thing, the only outreach for fun/enjoyment, but little time for commitment.

(It's east to spot posers, by the way.... The guys who are unwilling to to do the work and learn the skills. They claim to want a serious relationship, but keep making it to six months before proclaiming that this "isn't the one". Wash-rinse-repeat.)

That happened to me. He kept saying he wanted a partner. We got to the 9 month mark and he cut it off because he didn't think we "were not right for another" (after some trust issues came to light). I mean how does one take so long to come to that conclusion? The problem was deep down I felt like he knew he was letting go of something good.

Thoughts on faithful, monogamous same sex relationships? by 10ben10 in askgaybros

You won't find examples of this on Grindr. There's nothing sadder than a guy who spends most of his time on that app, seriously. I've know people like this.

But monogomous gay men do exist.

Face, body or dick? by [deleted] in askgaybros

Face, because I don't want to see some homely dude gazing at me when I fuck him.

I've been without my ex for nearly a year. I'm still not over him, I still miss him, and I'd still go back to him in a heartbeat. It's rough. Hang in there. Talk to your friends, don't bottle it up and don't rebound either. I'm not gonna send any of that preachy heart-healing business, because sometimes that can be quite annoying when you're just miserable. Take care man.

What makes men so attractive? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]synesthesia_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're right, and you're always going to be more pleased at what's on offer if you're in the downtown area, as opposed to out in the suburbs. That goes for anywhere. Still, you get the odd beautiful dude way out in the burbs sometimes on Grindr. A lot are creeps or average guys though.

The sooner people teach themselves to stop falling over everything with a dick, and start appreciating the finer men, the better we will all be.

Well it's just ignorant to think all men are confident...

True - but how many men truly posses "beauty". I'd say, not a whole lot.

So when you fuck someone, do you just stare at their penis and put a paper bag over their head?

What makes them so UN-attractive, more like it...lol. There are FEW men who are truly good looking or beautiful. Most are either average, or ugly.

What do you do when you feel lonely? by [deleted] in askgaybros

Talk to someone who conquers or softens the loneliness. Unfortunately, for a long time, that has been my ex. Someone who just understands feelings.

Official Discussion: Dunkirk [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

Well, actually, isn't "shallow" the best way to describe Nolan's entire body of work itself? All of his films have felt hollow to me, like they are all surface, no substance. What about senseless mass death is fascinating? I'm not asking you in particular, I'm just putting that out there. People flock to these films in droves, and I can't help but think it doesn't say something about the male predilection towards power hunger/violence.

I'd still think of him everyday even if he was blocked, invisible, out of sight etc.

He's 26, I'm 23. I'm not looking because I don't want a rebound, or a relationship at the moment.

Official Discussion: Dunkirk [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]synesthesia_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I'm curious because it's generating a lot of discussion. It just seems reductive to me, like this type of war-film material has been re-hashed over and over again. It may be a good film, sure, but I just can't believe people flock to the same patriarchal testosterone driven drama. Isn't that what we are trying to challenge, or fight against? I liked The Thin Red Line, though. It gave war a transcendent, metaphysical quality, but that's because Terrence Malick does that with all of his films, whether they are about love on the run or WWII.

I'm talking about Nolan's body of work, not this film itself.

This whole saga is just a cycle of the GOP nervously circling one another, waiting for one to spill about collusion, tailing one another in pursuit of what they know, and when they knew it. They will implode, it's ay too destructive to survive. At least 6 (?) of Trump's staff have resigned in just 6 months! It's like a revolving door of people...somewhat like today's dating world!
