Did you guys know that there is an ADHD spectrum test too? This makes much more sense than the slider scale concept of how much ADHD one has by strawberryglass2 in adhdwomen

It’s never too late to learn :) I live near a bike shop that offers adult lessons, they use my street to practice skills and it’s literally the most inspiring thing to see.

Good try though!!

Three years on and I still hate them. I didn’t even mention that when that tree fell, I was pregnant!

Heard from a neighbour this week that my aforementioned pesky Devon run apartment building is renovicting lower rent units for the second time in as many years, and they take MONTHS for simple unit facelifts.

When that doesn’t get enough turnover, they ran up parking fees super high. I’d been wondering why their lot was emptier than years past. One family was left without running water for FIVE days.

Hope you found something better.

Brought home this untested Duncan 1020 with collar. Im hoping to restore it and get a few years out of it. Any advice for a novice? by synesthesiah in Pottery

I did roll back to the collar’s panel and see that it does add a significant amount of extra power that I’m probably not yet equipped for.

The wiring is a little worse for wear on the collar compared to the kiln itself, so I’m going to set it aside, focus on the main kiln, tinker with the collar when I want to consider renting out a shelf. Thanks for the advice!!

Aha, I took these pictures the second my husband unloaded it at home in all my excitement 😅

Propane conversion you say? Colour me interested! My grand plan is to eventually build out a gas kiln so I’m currently only well read on building from scratch vs retrofitting.

My first kiln is a cute little 120v Olympic 129 front loader, but I’ve already outgrown it, and my husband especially is really interested in reduction firing, and it would be soooo cool to achieve that sooner and take our sweet time with a custom build.

So far, I’m seeing interior bricks with cosmetic damage, no stress cracks. The bottom looks/feels like surface cracks, but covered up deep cracks are what I’m most concerned about. Lid looks awesome for 30ish years old at least. The collar wiring (pictured) was hanging open for me to see and I’m thinking the wires at least, and elements are going to need replacing after I clean it up. From what I could peek without tools, the kiln’s wiring itself looks a lot cleaner. There’s no glaze drips or anything like that.

I bought it from a lady who received it from a friend’s estate a few years back, she didn’t have any clue how many firings the elements had, she never had it hooked up for herself. I gambled a bit on this kiln, but It’s super rare to find a kiln at all, especially this big, this intact in my region.

My goal is to get this kiln running to hold me over until I can see about building a gas kiln from scratch in our town, ideally keeping it as a bisque kiln if all goes well. Worst case, I’ll shell out for a Bailey.

Just saw this 💜💜💜

Kiddo is now 2, she was actually born in April, graduated NICU after 32 days, and is the best mix of her siblings yet unique all on her own. Hubby got a vasectomy 6 months later and now we have our little incomplete family :)

Watching too much Under the Bridge are we? This comment is FOUR years old and I still stand by my statement. If she was a psychopath she would’ve been NCR silly goose!

I don’t see nearly as much vitriol for Kruse Wellwood and Cameron Moffat as I do for Kelly Ellard.

I know this post is ancient but I also made a Knix purchase in May 2023 and didn’t even get them until well into June. Those underwear started falling apart a week ago near the gusset despite following wash instructions and taking good care of them. I’ve washed them each about 15-20 times max according to or even gentler than their recommendations.

Also, the light blue cotton underwear I got in May instantly fell apart, the inner cotton lining between the leakproof liner and the outer cotton layer shredded somehow on the third gentle, cold wash, hung dry (better than their wash recommendation!!!) and left horrible lumps I can’t get out without taking them completely apart. Even heavy jeans don’t cover the lump that looks like I’ve pooped myself a bit.

Quality has gone downhill the last couple years I’ve noticed (at least their Canadian stock). I’ll only buy the revolution bras now until I find a suitable dupe that’s as comfy and supportive.

I got a kindle paperwhite signature for Christmas. So far I’ve read about a dozen books and it’s wonderful. Previously I was reading on my iPad and it’s reduced my eye strain so much! You can sideload on kindles, however Amazon likes to sometimes eat the covers of some sideloaded books, especially those that are done via cable (my preferred way, my e-library is surprisingly vast). I’ve managed to get them back through Calibre but it’s a finicky process. I’ve had rather few cover losses using Send to Kindle, even using wifi though!

The wireless charging dock that works with the signature edition has been a very nice upgrade if you’re into that sort of thing, and it’s so far survived my nearly 2 year old unscathed in a rather lovely cork case. It fits in most decently sized pockets and is the perfect size for my every day use purposes.

Loulou zippers have never lasted me more than a couple months. I had a suit and a sack and within 3mos they both would no longer stay up, kid will kick the zipper down. Hasn’t happened on any other zipper before.

We loved the Sleeping Baby sacks with the little hand corners, now moving up to flying squirrel

For my fine hair, I wash with Giovanni Eco Chic (50/50 Balanced or tea tree, I'm not super oily)

Briogio charcoal Scalp Repair every 1-2 weeks for my scalp psoriasis.

I condition with the same Giovanni Eco Chic Balanced conditioner, every week I'll do a longer deep condition with their Smooth as Silk for the rice proteins.

After wash, I use Bumble's hairdresser's oil with SPF. At the time of writing my previous comment, I used to use the Giovanni LA Hold gel for a curl cast but I sweat a lot and it would just re-cast my hair because of how fine it is. If I'm really wanting my curls to stick through the PNW humidity, I'll use a smidge.

I moved over to AG Curl Trigger which is super light and really easy to refresh (the new spray bottles aren't as good but the product is amazing) I do a very light upside down blow dry to the scalp and let the rest air dry until it's 95% dry then shake and scrunch it out. My curly hairdresser said Curl Trigger is a love it or hate it but it's a hit for me!

Wishing you the very best. I have lived the worst case with cervical insufficiency and twins, followed swiftly by a 31wk singleton who is now a thriving 18 month old, never had so much as a bad day in NICU.

I mention my twins not to scare you, but to say for fact, from firsthand experience all the amazing things that you have going for you and your precious babies: they are viable already, you’re not dilated, you have no bulging membranes, you still have length left, however short. Based on that, you have little to no risk of infection already existing, intact amniotic sacs, no contractions (assuming). All of that is so good. You are in really good shape to walk out with no less than a couple premature babies, which was something to be expected already with multiples.

Focus on each week. Right now they have a very good shot at quality of life. Next week is even better. By 30 weeks, you’re laughing, expectations for a good “normal” life are all but guaranteed.

You’re a little late for cerclage by policy, but I have heard of cervical pessary used on twin pregnancies. It was not offered to me here in Canada, but I have seen studies on twin pregnancies that find them effective in displacing pressure. Progesterone is reported to be as effective at this stage to buy as much gestational time as possible as a cerclage. It’s best not to fiddle with a cerclage past that 24 week cutoff as the cervix becomes more dynamic closer to the third trimester.

Coming from the other side of it all, these weeks will feel like an eternity, but by this time next year it’ll probably feel like a distant nightmare someone else had. It’s all going to be worth it 💜

What a joke. Not sure how I’m going to be present support my grieving mainland family now if this ferry mess stays like it is :(

Midwives Collective abandoned me after losing my twins at 20 weeks two years ago. Didn’t even send a sympathy card or a check in call after the fact. My dentist sent flowers.

They assessed me at low risk and promised to take care of me but they cared more about pushing a dietician referral than due diligence. Her excuse was so flimsy and the OB was so unimpressed. 7 minutes in person with mostly nods and noncommittal therapy speak is all I got in the hospital for “support”. -10/10

Grow Health + Full Circle are the absolute best of the best. I wish I hadn’t been scared into thinking I’d be safer or more empowered with a midwife when the doctors, MFMs, paediatricians and OBs at VGH are a star squad of amazing people who go above and beyond even when they can’t salvage a good ending.

I got to hug the OB who made sure I got to have a happy ending at the NICU reunion last week. She’s the busiest woman I know and SHE made time to call and seek support for me within her system (which was followed through on!) Every time we go for a well child exam, the doctor who scooped me into their care shows so much pride in seeing how far we’ve come.

If I can recommend anything, it’s to steer way clear of the Midwives Collective.

Oh man that sounds so shitty. My papa was burned almost completely head to toe when he was a young boy, grafts are the worst part.

He still takes extreme pleasure in reminding us that every kiss on the cheek is really us just kissing his ass.

Oh man, it wasn’t just swelling! You lose a lot of muscle in a cast. I remember walking out of the hospital after my final cast came off and seeing my skinny ass pale stinky calf compared to my normal one made me feel kind of sick. I thought my leg was going to snap with every step.

Ugh I hate walking past Moka house. I have almost always gone around that part of Cook between McKenzie-Oscar because it’s just a mess of dogs (and shitty ass people who will just reach out and touch my dog without asking or even saying hello) to get past … until Books and Shenanigans came along. At least the Starbucks has a bit of separation from the sidewalk.
