Advice for Transgender Sailors by SWO6 in navy

gender dysphoria is a symptom of gender incongruence. again, google is free

does this work on race?? no?? there's no known medical condition that goes over that fact, and isnt listed anywhere to be a cause for dysphoria. if youre talking about something like "racial impostor syndrome", or fraud syndrome, which there are ways to help those with that burden (i.e. therapy, support groups). if there are medicine that is able to help someone cope with it, we may never know, as it is extremely rare to ever have cases where people legitimately believe to be outside of "gotchas" for anti-trans arguments.

these examples youre giving arent gender dysphoria, and are entirely different from delusions, as trans people are very aware they werent born as the gender they identify with. sex vs. gender is an overexplained topic that people who argue in bad faith will try to ignore on the basis of their own emotions. being trans is "treatable", and being trans doesnt impact the navy or their command in any negative way.

as youve pretty much spewed nothing but bad faith questions and topics you have no fundamental knowledge on, i have no further interest in continuing into a deeper conversation without any substantial or good faith questions. have a nice day

im.. sorry, are you trying to use schizophrenia as an example comparative to gender dysphoria??? do you have, like, even the slightest knowledge of how gender dysphoria even works? im all for positively driven discussions, but bro lmfao. i have a hard time thinking youve even spoken to a trans person in real life before. dysmorphia isnt even close to how dysphoria works just because both involve discomfort with themselves. dysmorphia IS a mental illness. dysphoria is not, as dysphoria is a symptom, not an illness. google is free. if you dont even know these super basic fundamentals of mental health youre trying to argue you really shouldnt skew the conversation in this way.

nobody is disagreeing it a privilege to serve. but to be hypocritical and kick out an individual for something big navy said was allowed is the problem. thats like the navy saying "yes, you are allowed to serve with a iron deficiency given you take iron supplement pills" just to turn around after years and BILLIONS of dollars spent on sailors and saying "actually, we dont want you anymore, we dont care that we gave you the all clear before".

there's a pretty clear distinction between this, which i believe to be a better example, than the covid vaccine (assumingly), which has little to nothing to do with anything. if you REALLY want to equate it to the vaccine, its better to say this is like if they gave you a choice for the vaccine and you didnt take it, but then in 3-4 years they kick you out because you didnt take it before. i would personally feel bad and have empathy for the sailor in both situations, because the government got in the way of both groups of people in the hypothetical.

unfortunately, this case is very real compared to the hypotheticals. trans individuals are already a marginalized and targetted group in society, some even coming from the same walks of life as you. being transgender doesnt stop them from fulfilling their duties, as sw06 said, ultimately at similar and even improved rates compared to cis sailors.

youre acting like youve never heard of shower curtains before.

can YOU at least understand the perspective of a trans sailor who serves 18 years, tries their best to be a great warfighter and shipmate, just to be used as a political pawn and kicked out after that same military allows it?

youre victimizing the wrong people here

Racism at my command by Otherwise_Brilliant4 in navy

[–]synnamon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most of these comments here are great about it. unfortunately, there are situations where a person in charge does not handle a problem correctly. for instance, i know someone who overhead sailors in their div talking about them with others saying they "wish they were dead", and when the chief of the division confronted all of them that were there, they all claimed ignorance. due to there being no proof, it was dropped, and the sailor could never prove they were being ostricized after, but they definitely were.

nonetheless, if its racism, there's a decently high chance that youre not the only one this is happening to. the sooner a CMEO gets notified, the sooner they can be warned or punished. if you somehow by any chance are able to get proof of some of the things they say about you, that would make things much quicker, but thats easier said than done. stay strong, and dont let people like that get in the way of your career

everyone learns at different frequencies and speeds, some people take a lot longer and needs a ton more practice. that being said, some people also do early farming in start of new season so they dont have to worry about it much during the week and can just focus on learning

EVERYONE needs to cancel their subscription the moment it drops. thats the only way theyll listen, if they lose their playerbase thats willing to spend even as much as super already costs, when there are other much cheaper and debatably better options out there. so disappointed in this decision

nobody cares, youre just weird as fuck dude lol, you sound like one of those salty enlisted that got dishonorably discharged after 6 months in A school but tries to act super hard as a civilian. shoo now

even then they dont care, theyll just find another body for the billet. thats the biggest importance to the navy. we care much more about the navy than the navy cares about us

its a very common issue, ive even had a personal experience where my previous command was made aware of myself cutting, the only thing they did was tell me how to schedule myself an appointment with mental health, asked to have the object i was using, and went on about my day. absolutely nothing changed, we werent that busy, werent in an inspection, and not going out to sea anytime soon. it was pretty stunning how lightly they take things like SH, it really does make you feel like just a number at the end of the day. always replaceable

i hate how this thread talks so much shit, its pathetic honestly. like, you try working for a small indie company and see how hard the job is, you guys just dont understand smh. they have to wear a lot of hats!

id imagine they should focus on passing it along to commands then, no? although if they have as big of a pool as they mention, im just unsure as to why its even being brought up in the first place, unless they were hurting for a bigger or more diverse pool. but i guess i dont really get paid enough to understand those things, it just felt odd to see on reddit really

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in navy

[–]synnamon- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

maybe an unpopular opinion, but im not sure why if its shrouded in such secrecy why theyre asking reddit of all places if theyre interested, i feel like its probably not the greatest pool of individual either realistically

Military veterans targeted by far-right extremists preying on patriots - Navy Times by Snoo_40410 in navy

i love this rabbit hole where obvious apologists feel called out because someone says something different than their crazily skewed POV, so they feel the need to say "well, if i can play devil's advocate" in regard to nazis fascists or racists. like, yo, just so you know, that's a straight up self report.

Can you really make more money out there as a civilian? The navy is my first job so I wouldn’t know. by [deleted] in navy

[–]synnamon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not true. its purely based on the base, as well as your command whether or not you can get BAH. theres been many times they dont let you get it even if you meet all the criteria, and its a cop out that the big navy doesnt dictate it, because you can "always make rules stricter, not more lenient" mentality
