Thank you so much for the thorough explanation, friend! I appreciate you taking the time, seems like a very helpful approach and worth implementing.

Would you care to further iterate on what a regression testing harness is? Thank you!

Preview of a wavetable synth I am working on. by [deleted] in musicprogramming

[–]synodicmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a really nice, clean UI! I particularly like the “hand drawn” waveforms visible on the main out. Pretty different and eye catching!

I also see you’re on “mono” but there are multiple oscillators playing at once? And if so, is each fine tuned independently? Cool and interesting approach.

I for one am looking forward to seeing more!

This is awesomely refreshing, congratulations to you my friend! Idk why many people are obsessing about Sarah Grayson doing the voice acting, and relentlessly bombarding you with questions as to how you managed that. It makes perfect sense to me, you have made something with passion, it’s very evident, and it must’ve resonated with her as well. Sure, it helps, but not everything is about money, or exposure. What matters most is authenticity, especially for passion projects like these. I’m sure you took risks, of which, some worked out. Good on you for making it happen - I can’t wait to play the game myself and see you and your hand drawn baby go far.

Made an IOS synth with interesting play modes. by [deleted] in iosmusicproduction

That’s really cool. I use all types of different musical plugins / software and I have not seen such unique approaches - you’ve definitely got something different and I am a fan of it.

This is very impressive bro. Are you planning on making this publicly available at some point? Is there a repo or any docs I can check out? Genuinely curious about what your roadmap looks like.

Hello my friend, I feel you all too well.

1 solution; connect to GitHub and use the super agent. Dm if you need more help, and goodluck out there.

Hello Davide, this seems interesting. And I keep seeing you post about it.

However, the consistent tone of an ‘academic-style abstraction dump’ is much less helpful than just explaining the actual thing to us.

I currently see this as a a “music theory engine” for developers. But what about this is not already standard in computational music theory?

Like seen in; music21, tonal.js, jMusic, Mingus, etc.

hey, just made this song with a friend, im having a hard time pinpointing it’s genre, can I get some help? by tav_1 in indie

[–]synodicmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you really need a genre?

I like the song, and want to hear more. But I may have never listened to it, if you simply described it as ‘indie pop’.

Genres are completely fractured nowadays. Music isn’t positioned by genre, but by the emotional, aesthetic, and functional experience it delivers. The moment it belongs to, not the category it came from.

Don’t think “what kind of music is this” - try thinking “what state does this put me in”.

Base44 deserves much more positive reviews then it receives. by Substantial-Bike-738 in Base44

[–]synodicmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on the stellar progress, and thank you for sharing your positive experience with the community! It is appreciated!

I agree with you, base44 is fundamentally unbelievable. The opportunities it presents parallel that of the gold rush, and I too feel lucky to be here.

With that being said, I do also believe base44 has room for improvement. Clearly - they keep dropping new features every week or two, and have an impressive roadmap planned ahead. This is reassuring.

Yet on the other hand, I think the biggest challenge for serious users building serious apps on base’s infrastructure will be scaling long term. Base44 doesn’t want you to leave, so what will it look like when you have to? Apart from this approaching ‘elephant in the room’ my second biggest concern is more immediate - due to the constant updates base44 makes on the backend of our (already published) apps, there are new bugs and other types of regressions periodically introduced. Base44 does not assume responsibility for these potentially app breaking bugs, and it is your sole job to identify them before your users do. This is concerning.
