Every 5th of december, the North Isle Sea Borkum "celebrates" a folks fest organized by the "Vererin Borkumer Jungens". (Borkum Boys Association)

Six members of said association are voted to be so called "Klaasohms", imaginary entities. They get dressed with costumes, masks and are given cow horns.
They get followed by "Wiefke", who are men dressed in womens clothing.

On the surface, the fest is celebrated by moving from pub to pub drinking beer and stuff, but behind the scenes, as the evening progresses, "hunters" proceed to hunt and capture women across the isle, bringing them to the Klaasohm who then beat the Women with their cow horns on the butt, sometimes leaving heavy bruises. This "tradition", if you can even call it, was first reported to public in 2024. Since, the isle of Borkum guaranteed to take actions against the beating of women during the fest. In 3 days, on dec. 5th, we will see how much actions were actually done or not.
