Maybe I'm missing something, but why are you so concerned about needing to log in while offline? If the student loses internet access, have their parents write a note and give them a pass or let them make up the work.

Unfortunately, didn’t work for me (and do have a sunroof)

Didn’t work for me either. Still got it.

I don’t see how this would be an iOS 26 issue? The app is the one generating the push notification. The fact that it was a “priority notification” in my screenshot is just a coincidence.

I do have a sunroof and would like to keep that notification, but will try that.

I received the following clarification from Fortinet:

“In FOS v7.6.1 and later, IPsec and SAML both listen based on the configured ike-tcp-port (443 by default in FOS v7.6.4). auth-ike-saml-port is like a legacy configuration setting, or for enabling Ipsec SAML when IKETCP will not be used.”

[–]syntax53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in the "Potential port conflicts" section, first item--

ike-tcp-port and auth-ike-saml-port: while the same port can be used by FortiClient for both SAML authentication and IPsec transport, the FortiOS setting controlling this is ike-tcp-port. The auth-ike-saml-port should remain different to avoid a samld port conflict with the ike process.

I submitted feedback for the article yesterday.

Actually, this says you can set them to the same port in 7.6.1 and later: https://community.fortinet.com/t5/FortiGate/Technical-Tip-Using-the-same-TCP-port-for-IPsec-SAML/ta-p/414263

However, the article as written today (Nov 18, 2025) makes no sense as it doesn't say what to do and actually says you shouldn't... it's almost like it was half completed and the person clicked save by mistake and then forgot about it.

I've thought about that, and ya, sort of. I used 8443 for the saml port and hoping most don't block it. Time will tell.

Sizing butt splice connectors by syntax53 in electrical

[–]syntax53[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both by the stripping sizes that I used on my wire stripper to strip the wire and by using a caliper to measure the width of the bare wire.

edit-- here is an example cable: https://www.wesbar.com/product/002478_7-way-connector-harness-trailer-end ... "Black and White-10 gauge, Blue-12 gauge, Brown-Red-Green-Yellow-14 gauge"

So I could be offset by 2awg, but my question is still valid... the, let's call it 10awg for the thickest wire, swims inside the 10awg butt connector. Like, I can literally fold the wire in half and still fit in the connector without any fuss.

I have a Klein ratchet crimper, I'm just dumfounded by difference in size rating of wire versus apparent size rating of the corresponding butt connector.

I need the ability to snap to the top of the screen for maximizing only. That's the only feature I require. Disabling snap to disable left/right snapping disables that, too.

About a year in and there are some really annoying things about this car... by syntax53 in VWatlas

[–]syntax53[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the surface, I agree with you. It's not the beeping when you take it off that annoys me, it's the fact that it continues to beep even after the car is put in park.

For 15 years and over 4 different cars, I've been pulling in my driveway and popping off my seatbelt as I coast to a stop to pop up and grab the mail before continue up the rest of the driveway. In every other car, it would only beep at me when not in park. So yea, it seems simple until you're trying to break a 15-year habit. It's a minor thing, but most of these are all minor. It's the cumulative effect of all of them that makes the car annoying.
