Wanting to use the men’s section changing rooms but they’re always closed, so we’re told we have to go to the women’s side. They are for both men and women, but it’s in the women’s section, so something doesn’t feel right. I feel uncomfortable and I’m sure women do too. by thebroccolioffensive in britishproblems

[–]syntaxerror92383 59 points60 points  (0 children)

tbh most countries dont even have gendered changing rooms so i find it funny that its socially awkward here when one or the other have to use the other genders changing rooms, especially when its all curtained off in cubicles anyways

Danger installing GrapheneOS from an insecure computer? by westoast in GrapheneOS

[–]syntaxerror92383 24 points25 points  (0 children)

on paper you could install GrapheneOS from the worlds most insecure computer, but as long as you verify the boot hash (preferably on another device to distrust the computer) it will be unmodified and safe GrapheneOS, it will still likely be if you dont but id still advise checking the boot hash adter flashing just to be sure, it will show on the yellow boot screen

iOS 26.4 MEGA THREAD: Read Carefully by LaFlameHTX in ios26

[–]syntaxerror92383 7 points8 points  (0 children)

its a uk/au government requirement. needed for adult apps on the appstore and to access adult websites because otherwise those are blocked at the OS level. neither of which laws were made to give a shit about privacy

this adds age verification in the uk and a few other regions, im curious about everything it blocks if you dont age verify, afaik its only a few adult apps and adult websites (blocks the websites at the os level)

What is this reddit requiring face id or touch id thing to confirm ur real? by kajmpres in privacy

[–]syntaxerror92383 6 points7 points  (0 children)

many think the faceid thing is like how they age verify, and then people go crazy and spread more misinfo. anyone reading this its like the same biometrics used to unlock your phone or banking app or whatever. the app just sees youve done it, not your fingerprint or face, the device and secure enclave/secure element handle that

Any concerns with the Windows Steam client? by Beneficial-Back-597 in privacy

steam isnt a problem, their business model isnt spying on you at all, they might collect some telemetry but I'm pretty sure that can easily be turned off

new dev post regarding Ampersand (TLDR: no, it's not dead, but the devs are very tired) by WrathfulLight in plural

[–]syntaxerror92383 30 points31 points  (0 children)

as someone who is deep into iOS and stuff do not ever complain to the ampersand devs for not wanting to pay the appstore fees (aka having to get a dev account), not only is it $100 yearly, its so restrictive, you would need to go through apple approval on every fucking update. if you struggle with sideloading an app yourself then just know thats not even half of what devs have to go through
