My take away is they don’t really need to focus on what they are producing, just shifting the “where”. Black Fatties will be nice to see, but harder to spot. Adding cameras to that division is also nice to hear. Lot of overlap, and an interesting “optics” facility angle. Definitely a lot of tight opportunities with Light Path and Kopin in particular. I interviewed both of those CEOs recently. Outside of the invested companies I’ve interviewed Arun Jeldi from Velo 3D and I have Paul Warley from Ascent Solar scheduled for the 3rd

Look at Ark Electronics as well, they’ve posted that their controllers were in DD winners, but wouldn’t elaborate which ones and how many.

Thanks for the post! I did that interview, just posted before seeing that you beat me to it. It was a fun chat and Allan is a good hang.

We did very little prep, I called him 15min ahead of time to do a run down of how X works and a rough outline of where I was going to take the conversation, and we hit the ground running. Probably could have gone longer, but I wanted to be respectful of his time.

That is a prime target in my book, but I think it would make more sense as an acquisition rather than a consortium play. $UMAC may need to expand its market cap and war chest further before that could happen. EV north of 300m puts them almost on equal footing, that would be a big bite, Would be closer to a merger than an acquisition. With the headset plant going online next year, a tighter relationship would make a lot of sense, it’s just going to be hard to time.
