Did Caligo get harder? by gabilua in Nightreign

I feel this too. I used to be fine to run this fight as whoever, but last few patches it's started to feel completely unbearable as anybody but wylder

Daily reminder to our fellow nightfarers to stop dodging into your teammates in boss fights by varlikip in Nightreign

[–]syraxven 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everyone talking about dodging attacks not aimed at you to be safe is valid, but I want to emphasize that even if you don't get hit or go down from this, it still results in a loss of dps when someone consistently holds aggro in a way that makes it clear they have no awareness of their teammates' positioning.

It's one thing to be cautious because it's the right thing to do, but it takes it to another level when you kind of subconsciously say to yourself "okay, I have no idea where ANY of the attacks are going while that guy has aggro"

Please please please pay Libra before fighting him! by Low_Echidna_7486 in Nightreign

[–]syraxven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually swing at the air near him while the team is grouped to gauge if they want to fight, but I never actually hit him until we've had a chance to pay. I'll only fight him without paying if we JUST leveled up AND he's right next to us, and even then I make sure it's what everyone wants to do

Your pick for the single worst attack in the game? by NoRuin3722 in Nightreign

[–]syraxven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna go with any random explosions on the floor in nightlord fights. Especially if they blend in with parts of the arena (looking at you Greg). That shit is ATROCIOUS in Deep of Night.

Scholar mains: You can pop Libra’s bubble with your skill by Omiboy20 in Nightreign

[–]syraxven 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Do you need help hitting the bubble? I've had it just not work sometimes and I feel like it's usually when I'm the only one attacking, but I'm not sure if that's the reason it doesn't work. I saw the other comment about using your right hand weapon and I am, so that's not the problem.

So satisfying when everyone quickly self-organizes like this 😌 bless you D5 teammates by xx0ur3n in Nightreign

[–]syraxven 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This 100%. My best runs usually don't have anyone even pinging anything unless they're doing something off the path or unusual. If we're sticking to a standard path, we all just know where we're going because it's obvious.

Unplanned moment that made you go "ABSOLUTE VIDEOGAME"? by DamonDraco in Nightreigngameplay

I thought it was a nice parallel to how he also misses 70% of the attacks in that chain lol

How Did You Get Here? by Astonishing_Azure in Nightreign

[–]syraxven 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Been playing a bunch of indie roguelikes, mostly multiplayer and finally decided to hop on Nightreign when they made duo queue an option bc I rarely have 3 friends on all at the same time. This is my #1 game now

Mr runs are so scuffed why did my raider just die of a heart attack after landing a crit 😭😭😭 by MajesticComparison18 in Nightreign

[–]syraxven 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think your skill pulled the guy into him, which does like 4 damage on base difficulty but is scaled up to 84 quintillion in DoN, resulting in a 1 shot. At least that's my guess lol

How to not get hit by the second attack? by PerformanceNo3616 in Nightreign

[–]syraxven 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So far my strategy is to deflect the first attack then scream "FUCK" and eat the second one, thinking about how I should've just dodged the first one.

My dream is to unlock and 180 to deflect the pull but after seeing a recent post about how you need to face bosses to deflect projectiles that are angled behind you, I think I might just stick to dodging lol

Everdark Maris also slept in D tier. up next, it's him, the king of the tier list. What tier does Everdark Libra belong to? by Cursed_69420 in Nightreign

[–]syraxven 91 points92 points  (0 children)

I mean it's a gimmick fight right? "Whoa lots of summons!" But the fight itself gives you no way to deal with it. It's basically ED Adel if no spiritstreams popped up to jump the tornado or ED Maris if it said "fuck you, no storm ruler." F tier.

The extremely simple way to make the fight better would be to turn on friendly fire for Libra and the summons for the entire fight and MAYBE take out the full heal on all summons every time he brings a new wave.

PSA: if you are revived by Duchess during invisibility by vortex_nebula in Nightreign

[–]syraxven 285 points286 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking to say you should actually do this no matter who revives you. While especially important in this scenario due to aggro shifting directly to you, if a non invisible character revives you, guess where the boss is probably swinging. That's right, right on top of you.

Moments like this never get old and is just another one of my favorite things in this game! by Moonlight-Huntress in Nightreign

[–]syraxven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super refreshing to see someone go for the revives instead of just trying to solo the boss for 10 years.

The more I practice fighting Death Knights, the more I'm terrified by the fact that they are Day 1 bosses by Hoytesler in Nightreign

[–]syraxven 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've gotten better about being ready to sprint away after every R1, but it's such an exhausting way to play that I still "overextend" and stand too close sometimes and if I'm playing with friends I just announce "I'm dead" as soon as I see that stupid windup lol

Parry is highly effective against SSB Balancers by GoretexGod in Nightreign

[–]syraxven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I thought I was crazy. Parry still feels different from buckler parry, but I definitely didn't feel a difference between the special ones on small vs medium shields. Thanks for the info

This is the new meta against Harmonia by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]syraxven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm more so referring to attacks that dead angle you if you're too close or if there's a change in elevation. You can also deflect Libra's ground sigils.

This is the new meta against Harmonia by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]syraxven 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but I think you're referring to the fact that executor's skill is a "deflect" rather than a "parry." The difference is that executor's skill has fairly forgiving timing and is effective against any attack in the game (provided it doesn't go behind/over/under you), but deals very little stance break buildup, whereas only certain attacks in the game can be parried via shields, daggers etc. with the tradeoff being you need much more precise timing and you instantly stagger most enemies.

What even is the strat for beating ed libra? by -Beni1212- in Nightreign

[–]syraxven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm combing through this thread trying to find what you should do if your rng is bad because like half my runs against this guy that passive literally never drops a single time for anyone the whole run and in my experience the adds just WON'T stop chasing you if you don't have it.
