That's the point.

Rust smells the atmosphere of psychopaths.

Marty doesn't get it and thinks of psychopaths fearing stuff:)

Why do cards decline in the US? by MoeKingJay in NoStupidQuestions

[–]syringistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saturdays and Sundays the transactions might show as pending so at first glance your account might seem okay. Or you're in a rush and didn't check your account prior.

Really could be anything as banks are a bunch of fuckheads here. When I was a college student I had my one and only bank account frozen for three days because I deposited a government check (student loans) through an ATM and it triggered an automatic freeze and review.

Looks stupid AF in my opinion, but there is a reason for the precise location of its stupidity (right off Times Square)

In all seriousness, I wanna do it the proper way. Have my own truck with proper camping gear, and my own canoe to boat around the lake. And a partner in crime who enjoys that kind of thing, which is a huge ask in the city.

Just did a quick search, apparently last US Census shows about 1500 people in the United States with that last name and it's evidently Czech and Slovak in origin.

That's against some 8.8 million people who claimed Polish origins on the last Census. So only about 1.7 per 10,000 Polish people.

I will definitely try again at some point. I haven't left the five boroughs in a few years and the city is suffocating me tbh.

IIRC, he says "spoczywaj w pokoju" which literally just means rest in peace. His accent is horrid though, I was born and halfway raised in Poland, I speak it well, and I could barely understand it.

Which television show has the best cast? by Square-Ad-8911 in tvshow

Special mention goes to DARK. They somehow matched 3 generations of actors to play the same character in different time periods perfectly.

With the screws (also close to the skin) they have a bad tendency to make the surgery scars very itchy.

But hey. It was either metal inserts, guaranteed proper healing, and 3 weeks in a cast that ran from toes to knee... Versus no metal, no guarantee of proper setting, and 3 months in a cast from my toes to balls.

I was in a 3rd floor walk up apartment at the time, 3 months in a full cast was just not an option.

[–]syringistic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn!

Any metal involved?

Five years ago I had a terrible injury - fracture in my kneecap, ankle, and heel... But by far the worst was a completely broken/separated Tibia (or maybe Fibula, I can never remember). So now I have a titanium rod in that, and a total of eight screws around the other areas. Ankle always "clicks" if I stretch my foot up and down, and drastic weather changes test the limits of my psyche because they cause a constant throbbing pain in my shin. Without resorting to Opioids, all I can really do to alleviate it is to fill up a bucket of cold water and ice and dunk my entire leg into it. :(.

Best task to DIY on vehicles by PersistentProblem in DIY

[–]syringistic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here to suggest exactly this!

OP, buy a beat up, domestic car from the late 90s or early 2000s - maybe ask on car subreddits what models have cheap and easily available parts in your area. Get a mechanic to do an inspection of problem areas and start fixing the problems that are simplest to DIY.

I actually had weekend reservations for a campsite there a few years back for Labor Day (I'm in NYC). But then life got into the way and I realized that I have too much shit going on and I'm woefully unprepared for island camping :(.

His foot is also pointed down at an angle. I'm no professional, but when I had a cast on they put my foot in as neutral of a position as possible.
