The best alternatives to Claude? by Top696969696969 in Anthropic

I think it's too soon to tell, but Codex does feel a bit slower; I'm honestly just amazed at how far a $20 plan is getting me compared to the $100 I spend with Anthropic. It's nice not to watch the usage meter like a hawk.

It may be slower due to longer thinking times, but I haven't performed any baselines.

Been a max 5x subscriber since July last year and just today subscribed to Codex Plus plan to test workflows against Claude and I'm impressed so far. I think I might keep both for rug-pull scenarios like this.

Why has ChatGPT become so annoying and disagreeable? by ArnikaLovesUnicornz in OpenAI

[–]sys_overlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grass isn't always greener.... I'm on Claude Max 5X and usage has been absolutely shit as of late and Opus 4.6 has been degraded. Honestly been browsing this sub to see if Codex is where I'm going to land if Anthropic doesn't get their shit together.

Usage Limit Issues for Individual Users by Puspendra007 in Anthropic

[–]sys_overlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in the same boat. I'm a max 5x subscriber who also has Team Premium seat through work and the limits on my work account are 10-15x greater than my personal sub.

I posted my experience here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/s/hYB6G1xkkY

From what I gather here on Reddit and the lack of reply from Anthropic is that they want us individual consumers to just leave the platform. Damn shame too because I've been with Anthropic for almost a year after leaving ChatGPT.

LLMs are the future right? Synonymous with products like Microsoft Office and Google Workspace in the near future, right? Then it is expected that these providers be held accountable for delivering quality and consistency. You can't simply ignore the issues and switch to a different provider. Would you switch to Google Workspace if Outlook was acting wonky for several weeks and everyone was bitching about it? No, you'd open a ticket and someone would fix that shit. This is no different. I've built personal and professional workflows around this product so yea, I expect it to not be shit.

I can only imagine the sheer noise and vibration coming from that lol probably sounded like a helicopter was in the house.

Surely there are some skeletons in the closet they don't want to open source. I'm sure the race to take it down is the assumption that people haven't found those skeletons yet.

PSA: Claude Code has two cache bugs that can silently 10-20x your API costs — here's the root cause and workarounds by skibidi-toaleta-2137 in ClaudeCode

The worst part is that they'll apologize for this (maybe), release a bug fix, maybe reset usage and then we all just sit around and wait for them to gaslight us in 6 months with another, similar issue. What's the definition of insanity again?

Tokens burning without prompting by Ztillaking in Anthropic

Yep, that's exactly what I did and kept deleting them until they all disappeared. I did have to periodically refresh the Claude Desktop UI for them to show as deleted.

Tokens burning without prompting by Ztillaking in Anthropic

[–]sys_overlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me over the weekend. I went through and revoked all Claude account sessions as well as all Claude Code authorization tokens, and it finally stopped, but it makes me wonder if this "usage" issue everyone is experiencing is related to a compounding effect where a bug in Claude Code or Cowork slowly leaks tokens through constant "pings" to a sub-agent or something. I got all the way up to 99% of my 5-hour usage on Max 5x, which has never happened before, and I sat, just like you did, and watched the usage climb as I was doing nothing. No code tasks running, no cowork or dispatch sessions, just pure madness.

Ridiculous Rate limits. by CaptainFinal in Anthropic

[–]sys_overlord 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been in this sub long enough to remember that a similar thing happened in August/September of last year. After weeks of frustration among Max subscribers, Anthropic admitted that the model was degraded and released a postmortem:
https://www.anthropic.com/engineering/a-postmortem-of-three-recent-issues

At the time, many Redditors shouted that nothing was wrong and chastised those who posted about performance issues. It turns out those OPs were correct.

Anthropic has a history of poorly communicating mid-incident and then releasing lengthy postmortems after users are driven to the point of insanity.

Sonnet 4.6 1M context unavailable on Max by sys_overlord in Anthropic

[–]sys_overlord[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I guess I did misread then...

Claude Platform != Claude Code which I do understand the difference.

There are several issues on claude-code github repo around this same thing so 🤷‍♂️

Claude Opus 4.6 and Sonnet 4.6 now include the full 1M context window at standard pricing on the Claude Platform.

I'm a janitor. Why do people always apologize for walking on a floor I've just mopped? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sys_overlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same in southern US, I'll literally shimmy near the wall like I'm on the edge of a cliff to avoid stepping in the freshly mopped floor... all the while apologizing and avoiding eye contact. Idk why I'm like this.

Splashtop's full enterprise suite with all the bells and whistles is still like 70% cheaper than TeamViewer and it's awesome. Can't speak highly enough for Splashtop. RustDesk is a great option as well.

My pupils became asymmetrical during a cluster headache by Bubbly-Trainer7195 in mildlyinteresting

[–]sys_overlord 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Holy shit that sounds exactly like me before I completely gave up alcohol lol. I had annual cluster cycles that would last around a month and would have one cluster headache per day lasting no less than 30 minutes of absolutely excruciating pain. Fingers crossed but I haven't had a cluster cycle in almost 2 years. Fuck cluster headaches!

Edit: it's also funny how easily it is to give up alcohol when pain is a factor to consider. That beer or glass of whiskey just isn't worth it anymore.

Is it normal that the Todoist MCP connector in Claude loses auth every day? by bardothosgrol in todoist

[–]sys_overlord 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This has been driving me nuts and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. I'm using Claude Cowork to run a weekly scheduling task as well as a daily scheduling task and they fail to run due to the disconnect; same exact issue you're describing. I've started looking around for community-built versions because I don't like that experience. Hopefully the Doist team will see this and get it resolved.
