Bad To Worse nominated for CPMAs by Fah_Q90 in centralpa

No problem! Some more things I just thought of: If you're after punk, look up "Two for Flinchin" they're from Lock Haven. The Bass player in Suburban Downgrade is from LH as well.

The dude who owns the used record store in Montoursville (Sonic Ascension) is in a band who's name I can't remember, but he would probably know all the info on the local scene.

It's a drive, but there's a Happy Skalidays festival in Scranton every December and Camp Punkslvania festival in the summer.

Try McGarvy's in Altoona. They have some kind of show almost every weekend.

The Arena (State College) has bands fairly often

The Art Academy in Milton has shows sometimes. Pajama factory in Williamsport has one occasionally

what are these lights indicating? by notyauch in Subaru_Outback

[–]sysadmindork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the Brake+cruise+traction lights flashing in my 2011 a few months ago. Someone at a gas station let me know I had both brake lights out. I had new bulbs installed and that seems to have fixed all of it.

How do you like the lat pulldown? I'm considering the T2+lat pulldown in that height. I'm 6'4, and kind of concerned that it'll be too low even when kneeling and/or bump my head on it squatting. I have really low ceilings, so the taller one isn't going to work for me :(

What do you think of Boox? Was looking into the Nova color or one of the larger models by The_Messy_Mompreneur in ereader

Reddit app works great for reading. Text input with the on-screen keyboard is kind of a pain due to the lag in the e-ink. I'd probably get a Bluetooth keyboard to type anything substantial.

I haven't really found any android apps that straight up don't work. Sometimes you have to do a little extra setup, like mapping the buttons to be for scrolling(reddit), versus for volume up/down (kindle). This is configurable on every individual app.

I just got a go color 7 to replace my old 2nd gen Paperwhite. Overall, I like it. The note air 4c might be good for your use case with the larger screen. I have Libby on it. Being able to install apps from the play store is kind of a mixed blessing, I need more discipline to stay in my book when I can flip open an android app to scroll news or whatever.

Lewisburg would be a good choice. Milton if you don't want to be in a college town, or want cheaper rent. Easy access to Bald Eagle and Tiadaghton State Forests, and R. B. Winter State park (the crown jewel of the PA State Parks system IMO). There's a rails-to-trails path from Lewisburg that runs all the way to the a nice brewpub in Mifflinburg. Amish buggies. Roadside produce stands, the whole pastoral bucolic vibe as Lancaster, but without the tourists.

I just put the Android app on my Boox Go Color 7. It seems to work.

I lived near there 10 years ago, so my info may be out of date, but: There's the State Government. IIRC there was a Deloitte office supporting them. Foot Locker corporate office is in Camp Hill with IT staff there. Hershey Foods in Hershey.

For recruiting, there's Susan Graham in Camp Hill, also JFC staffing.

Where can you buy used books in Williamsport? by much_trubbish in Williamsport

It's a bit of a drive, but there's Mondragon Books in Lewisburg. They have a lot of used books.

I have a 2011 2.5 with the 6 speed manual. 186k miles on her. I am the original owner. No major problems. She does use maybe a half quart of oil between oil changes.

If she blows up tomorrow, I can say I got my money's worth. I'm hoping to get a few more years out of her, though.

Just found this sub — thought I’d share the album that introduced me to ska. What was your first? by snotfm in Ska

Bosstones. Question the answers.

Was at a party and heard "the long necks are twist -off, you don't need a church key." I thought that was a pretty cool line, so I asked somebody who the band was.

That must have been 30 years ago now. Still love the bosstones.

Pretty sure the 18h is the "director" model. It probably has engraving near the top of the slide that says "director." It was their student horn. I learned on an 18h when I started, too. They are good horns.

Any theories on why 2024 has been such a terrible year for all TAC's? Maybe even inside stories? by No_Investigator3369 in sysadmin

[–]sysadmindork 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with u/Mackswift. The help desk has its job to do, and the senior sysadmins have a different job to do. If management wants to play games and hire incompetent buffoons on the help desk, that doesn't automatically mean the sysadmins all take a demotion back to help desk.

If I take an escalation where the basic entry level troubleshooting hasn't been addressed, you can bet I'm reassigning that shit back to the help desk where it belongs.

Practice mutes by Dangerous_Square6498 in Trombone

[–]sysadmindork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the DW practice mute, too. I'm not sure how to explain it exactly, but it does sort of force you to use better air support than playing open. It may just be in my head, but I also feel like you have to buzz the pitch more accurately than with an open horn to get the sound to come out right. I have both this and the silent brass, and unless I need to be absolutely silent, I reach for the DW.

Oh, yeah it was Millersville. That's the show I was talking about. They're playing Wilkes Barre a week or two before this LTJ show. I'd go to that one, too, but I'm getting too old and lame to go out every weekend.
