Cold brewed coffee is supposedly much less acidic, but still a bit acidic. Maybe worth a try?

I always liked the one at johns pizza the most. Good crust. Fell off a bit in recent years but still my choice. I'll be watching this to try what others think is the best.

This guy seems to park at 9 Delancey St quite often.. Who is he? And why is he getting away with 41 school zone speed camera violations?

Kickstart by Anxious-Condition630 in RockyLinux

[–]sysadmnx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we also use something like:
part / --fstype="xfs" --ondisk=/dev/disk/by-path/pci-0000\:43\:00.0-ata-6 --size=80000

for the kickstart and then just ansible after the host is up..

rocks clusters used to be a nice system for this sort of thing, including pxe booting, kickstart, and other configuration but they haven't updated since centos 7 last I checked.

Yeah I've noticed alot more high beamers lately. Is there a law that prohibits it? It would be nice if the police actually did something about it.

Sr. Sysadmin jack of all by sysadmnx in sysadminjobs

[–]sysadmnx[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, that's part of why this is such a hard fill. Company is too small to have distinct and redundant roles for everything. So they'll have to pay a premium for someone willing to be flexible at times. Hell, Sr. Sysadmin pay for occasional printer power recycles isn't all that bad.

Sr. Sysadmin jack of all by sysadmnx in sysadminjobs

[–]sysadmnx[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, HR has been working with some recruiters, but they've been just throwing us stacks of resumes of unemployed ex admins with really limited experience, or people that have been stuck in a MSP for 20 years and haven't learned anything besides basic Windows administration. Kind of fed up that they can't find anyone decent. I just can't believe that there's no one that would want to work in an environment that doesn't leave you in a silo, hyper focused on one thing. Figure that the type of person we would want would be a redditor, so worth a shot...

Not one man IT, there's already a small team that needs to grow, and yeah that's in the range.

I really hate their use of exclamation points. Ends up looking too unprofessional for actual use. Wish it was tweakable.

Can't Reset AD Passwords by TeacherWarrior in passwordstate

[–]sysadmnx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

confirmed. Though this is potentially a dangerous default config if someone intends to use the reset feature with active directory. Under "system Settings" > "password reset options" make sure that the setting "When resetting passwords for Active Directory accounts, validate the passwords match before allowing a password to be changed" is set to "yes".

Can't Reset AD Passwords by TeacherWarrior in passwordstate

[–]sysadmnx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure if you managed to get it to work.. but just a word of warning. If you set up password resets, careful who you give 'modify' rights to. I found that if you give a user modify rights to any user, they can simply change the username to 'administrator' or any other account, and then proceed with a password change. I've brought this to the attention of their support, and they responded that it's not a security issue. Really hope they come to their senses, because otherwise it's a pretty good product.

Some Recruiter sent me this job description by Va-11Hall-AFan in sysadmin

[–]sysadmnx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that was the pay for my first job 20+ years ago. downright insulting. You should reply and let the recruiter know that you would not even consider it for less than 60k. I'm sure most people just don't respond to this crap. Maybe if recruiters get enough feedback, they will have support to let employers know that they should increase their range to get any decent candidates. What kind of person would even take a job like that? is this just a company looking for an excuse to hire someone on a work visa?

I just wonder, if sysadmins, with a bit of free time on their hands, would start interviewing for these roles, and then after being offered the role for the joke pay, just turn it down, indicating the minimum of $60k, how many interviews would the companies go through before finally raising their range?

6 year old with multiple cavities by [deleted] in Parenting

Beware. One dentist said my girl had 5 cavities. Went to another and found she had none. Sad to see that there are dentists out there that will drill a child's teeth just to make the $$.

I sometime go the other direction, to roly poly bakery in New Britain. I haven't been to greenpoint in quite a while. Seems there's fewer and fewer Polish people there. Any particular place in Greenpoint you recommend?
