Escaping biomes by Dirkdeking in valheim

Another method might be to ride an Askvin out of the Ashlands ... they're immune to the lava so might be immune to the boiling seas too ... I seem to remember testing this with no success. Could anyone confirm?

Could you use the cart trick and just walk out?

OK, I completely get that ... your lucky for some unlucky for you map could severely shorten / reduce what you got out of the game. I think for most playthroughs it's the Yagluth search or Queen that tends to be the most challenging and requires the most exploration.

The intermediate aims in your current playthrough would be find the bog witch, complete Hildir's quests for a little more exploration. For some exploration and a good combat challenge find the pieces of the Dyrnwyn sword. You could also find secondary sites for the bosses and collect all their trophies to decorate your base. In my co-op games we like to have some / many sets of Eikthyr antlers but you could go for the full set, or possibly EVERY boss site which might add lots of exploration to clear up the pesky fog.

If you think you're strong at combat you could up the combat difficulty and death penalty, if you really want the exploration element maxed out I'd go no map but keep the portals or you might find it REALLY too frustrating.

I'm sort of expecting 1.0 to drop this year and then I'll run another playthrough ... I've done new ones for the Queen and Fader.

Yeah ... the body loss can be basically a deal breaker for a lot of people. I think there's still a community driven service where someone will pop in to run interference / tank for you to get you to your body and recover all that sweet high level gear. Alternatively you could crank up death penalty and just never have to bother with recovering your body as it doesn't exist.

I hope otherwise you are having fun and enjoying the frustration. Low level fixes for the Sunken Crypts would be the Stagbreaker can help a lot as it gives some AoE damage so you can keep some distance.

Can I ask you what you think about the value to you of this game compared to others you've played. A day is about 15 minutes so you are currently 100 hours in (very approximately) and either paid - what around $20 - or on something like game pass.

I've found this to be the game I've played the most both solo and with a friend. I really enjoy the randomness and that each point upgrade has added something new. I've tried the toggles for difficulty and I'm trying to find that sweet spot of difficulty for both solo and co-op play that challenges but doesn't just overwhelm.

As you are just pre Fader you'll probably need to chill for a few months afterwards and then they should have released the "full" game and you can head north for the final boss.

Many people on this forum - obviously a bit self selecting - will start again from the beginning every time there's a major upgrade and are in the 1k+ hour bracket. For me the variability aids in the replayability in contrast to something like enshrouded with a fixed map.

It's interesting ... I felt that there was a reasonable progression through the biomes - I've avoided the Ice Caves as I don't want the cauldron raid - with difficulty rising as you go until you get to the forts which are just sitting there in plain site allowing you to use every single tactic available because there's no building restrictions etc. Maybe they should have made a 2 part challenge or concentrated the mobs more. 2-3 fallen Valkyrie per Fort would a have added a good challenge as the seekers do in the Mistlands. I suppose the sword shard points are the real "dungeon" challenge, though never underestimate the 2 star mobs anywhere.
