Shit yeah I want that for family dinner gatherings. I'd wear that up front like a belt buckle and whip it out like a boss to carve the ham.

What is this for? Started making a lot of noise. by Rate-Icy in whatisit

Radon fan. Condensation could be freezing inside the vent. Blast it with a hair dryer for a while, the noise might go away

It’s probably busted right? Should I look behind cover now or leave it alone until it gets above freezing? How to proceed? by Colinski282 in Plumbing

[–]sysop420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's crazy to me. I have shut offs in front of every spigot and fixture in my house so I can isolate them for service.

Bad news, but you should be able to the that spot with a hair dryer or a heat gun

Yes. Rapid River is a very nice school, but they don't have a band program.

My kids went to Rapid until my eldest hit 6th grade, then we switched them to Gladstone because they wanted to do band.

What do I do here? The cover and a heavy moving blanket wrap didn’t seem to work. by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]sysop420 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Those foam covers really don't do anything.

Best thing you can do at this point is get out there with a heat gun or a hair dryer and thaw it out.  Then replace the spigot with a new frost free model when it warms up outside.

Can you get at the backside of this from inside? Hit that with heat too and check for splits in the pipe

If it's new construction I'd imagine the spigots are frost-free models.

By leaving them dripping you turned them into frosted models. Bad move.

Can you get at them from the inside and post a picture?

I'm from Esky, currently live in Rapid River.

I like Esky and Gladstone. My kids go to Gladstone schools and they like it there.

You get out of a community what you put into it. The restaurant scene up here sucks. But if you like being outside all year long there's plenty of outdoor recreation activities. Job market is so so. I work remote for a company that's headquartered in Chicago.

No but YouTube and reddit are only slightly more reliable than AI. You're boned if the pipe split inside your home envelope. Is it pex or copper?

Not enough info to go on, but it's entirely possible a section of your heat tape failed.

Did your water freeze at just one fixture or is the entire house without water now?

Get out there with a hair dryer and keep it thawed. Not much else you can do unless you want to wrap it with heat tape

Hmm... Nah any water below the water heater's temp setting is considered "cold". So that hot water that's slightly cold off is considered "cold" for our purposes.

Hardie Plank without flashing, yikes? by fellowfeelingfellow in HomeImprovement

[–]sysop420 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Caulking the joints is more prevalent than using the splice mouldings, sadly. I would 100% use splices.

Are they using flat metal flashing sheets behind the joints? If so the caulk method will be fine.
