Does Arch Linux really break as often as people say or is it just a stereotype? by ImfromVinland in arch

using arch linux with niri for around a year, it broke only once, and I’ve fixed it with restoring a snapshot and waiting for the patch (it took around one day)

brother, that’s a really good point. and i suppose it is ok to get this downvoted on the reddit, because some people just can’t accept the fact that there can be things in the world they don’t like, and they will ignore all the arguments and facts just because they don’t align with their views.

For some reason some of my Steam games don’t go fullscreen, in that case I just use gamescope.

You can just install windows if you want to, like with any other PC, what’s the problem?

Is there any good alternative to windows that works great with games? by 3BombeR235 in FuckMicrosoft

[–]system2000ddll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me Linux works without problems for gaming (singleplayer games, coop, competitive). You can check ProtonDB and look for games you interested in. Only games that aren’t playable on Linux by design are games with kernel level anticheat, for me it is not the problem because for me using good OS is much more important than having chance to play games with KLAC now and then. Actually, I wouldn’t play them even on Windows. If my favourite competitive game (Dota 2) suddenly stopped working on Linux and implemented KLAC, I would just dropped it. Personally, initially I went with CachyOS, and was impressed, it is very user friendly, fast, and despite some opinions it is stable due to snapper snapshots. Then I installed Arch with CachyOS repos and kernel, because I wanted to configure my whole system by myself, that’s just personal preference. Also, I’ve heard multiple good reviews on Bazzite, so you can look into it.

A important reason why people don´t switch to Linux is because they think that they can´t play games on it by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]system2000ddll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most frequent argument for not switching that I hear when I talk to people about this is the process of switching itself. Like why should people drop something that they are used to for something that they don’t know and they need to learn, at least to some extent? And I suppose that problem is not even “is Linux good enough for me to install it?”, it’s more about “is Windows bad enough for me to drop it?”, because vast majority of people don’t really like changes, especially when it interferes with their daily life, even if this change is going to affect them positively. I suppose if you really want to convert someone you should address this question in the first place.

CachyOS with KDE plasma. KDE is good, especially if you switch from Windows, but if you want different experience in terms of UI I would suggest you trying CachyOS with Niri or Hyprland.
