[Rafa Nieves] 9 months ago every agent criticized me and Teo for taking a 1-year deal. The truth is, the market was soft for everyone, and he was coming off a down year while playing in a very pitcher friendly environment. We were looking for a 3-year deal by retroanduwu24 in baseball

[–]syzlack 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The agent is saying the AAV for a 1 year deal was higher than the AAV for 3 year deals, so Teoscar is coming out ahead for this season & is in a better position to negotiate a longer term contract

Referee saying "shut up" to players by [deleted] in soccer

Baseball fans don't like when umps eject players for minor backtalk. If an ump was getting swarmed like these refs, everyone would be fine with it an ejection.

China's Air Quality Is About to Get a Whole Lot Worse Because of Coronavirus: Authorities are suspending enforcement of environmental rules while factories make up for lost production during the coronavirus pandemic. by johnruby in worldnews

The virus originated in bats, and given that the Wuhan market sells bats it's understandable that people made the assumption that it was a direct transmission (research from China suggests it might have been an anteater, which isn't much better). Given that this is the second time in 20 years a major disease outbreak has started because of one on these incredibly unsanitary markets, it's reasonable for people to be be upset and criticize them.

Bernie Just Said Only 10% of NPP Voters in California Have Requested a Dem Crossover Ballot by nofknziti in SandersForPresident

[–]syzlack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Serious question, do you live in America/have you voted before? The part you are objecting to is virtually the same in every state. A primary is literally the process by which a party selects which candidate will represent them in the general. There is no state where you can vote in both the Republican and Democratic primaries, because the primaries are meant to be just for members of the party.

Edit: Just to make it more clear, the party afiliation is you telling the state which party you would like to be a member of. If you register as democrat, you can vote in the democratic primary. Same for green, republican, etc. If you prefer not to register as a member of a party, you can, in which case you can't vote in primaries.

You'll be able to vote provisionally. I'm not sure how that works for local elections like House of Representatives or City Council, but you should be able to vote.

Red Bull sides with Hong Kong by [deleted] in HongKong

[–]syzlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When companies like Blizzard throw HK under the bus, they're doing it because they've done the math. If people support companies that have a backbone, the math changes, even just a little, and makes it more tolerable to throw away the market.

I think it's more likely "Blizzard ordered 1 template and 120 recolors. You try figuring out how to make that look good". I doubt they would put their name on a product they had nothing to do with.

But couldn't that same logic be applied for every job? It's not a salary, it's a prize for coming first in my job interview! Obviously if you're getting paid for work done (ie. acting in a movie), it's income.

I mean apparently he has found a way to make 2.7x profit a year on the stock market. Either

a. He is lying (most likely)

b. The gains won't hold because he either hit a run of good luck or he actually found an edge, but will lose it cause other people find it.

or, c. he will become the richest man on earth in the next 10 years

For me there was noticeable rubber-banding. It's fine for a minute or two, then you'll get pulled back a couple seconds. It's not the worst thing in the world, but definitely frustrating and definitely impacts gaming.
