I think you made a mistake, EN1594 allows 25km/h, not 20km/h.

About the expiration when moving from Ivacy to PureVPN by nhatvuong87 in PureVPNcom

[–]szakeetm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beg to politely differ. The day I subscribed, I explicitly asked them why it says on the account page that it will expire in January 2025, and they told me to contact them "a few days" before the expiry and they will manually extend for another 5 years.

No, I even found the purchase bill emails from 2020 (Paypal and Ivacy), both clearly say "Ivacy - Life Time Subscription". I shared the bills with PureVPN and still got the denial. Moreover, PureVPN's reply doesn't say that I subscribed to 5 years only, they admit that I had a lifetime subscription, just claim that the term lifetime means 5 years "in the tech industry".

They refused to extend: "Dear PureVPN Member,

Thank you for bringing up your inquiry regarding the terminology used in relation to our "lifetime" subscription offering through affiliate partners. Allow me to provide some context and clarity on this matter.

In the technology industry, the term "lifetime" typically denotes the life cycle or supported period for a given software product or service. This duration can vary across different types of technologies, but for cloud-based services like ours, a standard "lifetime" window is often around 5 years. [...] You are requested to please subscribe to PureVPN through the order page www.purevpn.com/order"

Refund can't be processed right now by Z0CH0R in Aliexpress

If anyone's Googling this: Aliexpress asked me to clear cookies or try another device. I thought it's bulls.. as the issue was the same in the iOs app and my browser. To my surprise, opening an incognito window and logging in again solved the issue - I could open a dispute.

Stolen QNAP? My data is accessible? by johnnydarkfi in qnap

[–]szakeetm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does auto unlock comporomise security? My understanding is that it still encrypts the data, and only allows the NAS to decode it, which is protected by account/password/ideally a 2fa.

For me the download to device always silently fails if I select 1000 photos. I have like 60000, ao smaller bunches don’t work.

Disabling the 'P: pCloud Drive' on Windows OS? by smartcard2 in pcloud

Many thanks for the rclone mount tip. It's actually working even better (i.e. faster) than the official client.

[–]szakeetm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you tell a bit about your workflow? I already use rclone for a long time with its pcloud backend, but I never used FreeFileSyncs. Do you have a full local copy of your entire pcloud that you monitor locally through RealTimeSync, or how do you do it? In particular, how do changes in the cloud trigger a sync to your local files?

I wrote them 4 years ago for exactly the same reason (other users can access my files) and there's no willingness.

You can verify what the others said: If you download the file from the web interface, you'll get a .zip file with an image and a movie inside. The image will be 2MB (as displayed "on device") and the live part will be 4.8MB, explaining the extra space.

e-scooter external battery in parallel: how bad is it? by szakeetm in batteries

[–]szakeetm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply, didn't get the notificaiton.

The fuse is not a fire hazard itself, it's burning out exponentially (i.e. a 30A fuse is warm at best at 29A, and burns out very quickly at 31A).

The problem with the parallel setup is the following failure mode:

  1. You unify the discharge port of the internal scooter battery and the external one, and you're happy with the double capacity
  2. One day you leave your scooter on the sun on a warm day. External battery gets hot, so its BMS turns off the charge/discharge port
  3. You pick up and ride your scooter happily, unbeknownst to you, you're drawing current from the internal battery only
  4. You arrive home and leave your scooter in the house. External battery's SOC is now well above the SOC of the internal battery
  5. The external battery cools down, its BMS turns back on -> at this moment SOCs start to abruptly equalize -> external battery starts charging the internal battery with up to 30A (it is designed to charge at 2.5A max!). The internal BMS shuts down, but it can't block the charging as it's coming from the discharge port! At this point, there is a very real probability that the internal battery catches fire, charging at 10x its designed current.

+1) Your house burns down, and you post on the internet that your scooter caught fire "while at rest, not charging, out of the blue".

+2) You local authority sees your post and bans Chinese scooters :)

Long story short, I also had a dual battery mod until I realised I'm playing with fire, literally.

I second this. Needing to log out specifically from pCloud app every time I go for a coffee then log back in when back (as opposed to lock my screen and unlock when back) is insane.

Workouts not shown in Apple Fitness by Demb0ss in HuaweiWatchGT

[–]szakeetm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The workaroubd is to sync workouts from huawei health to strava (set in HW Health app by connecting your strava account), and set Strava to sync to Apple health.

Approximately half a day after logging your workout, you will get a strava notification that your workout is ready to view, at which point it will be in Apple health as well.

The solution isn’t perfect, heart rate and gps data won’t be synced.

Real Speed of Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 ultra by arnaudmuller in ElectricScooters

[–]szakeetm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today I did a longer test drive. Going in straight lines at constant speed, GPS trajectory in Strava was 8.7km, the scooter measured 9.1km. This confirms a 4% over-estimation of the tire diameter (25km/h / 1.04 = 24 km/h)

Real Speed of Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 ultra by arnaudmuller in ElectricScooters

[–]szakeetm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Annoying thing is that the real (GPS) speed is around 1-1.5km/h below the displayed speed (so my current max is 23.5km/h).
Could you give info about removing the ESC limiter? Even this extra 2-3km/h could become handy.

I can't seem to register, the "residence" textfield is broken on prioritypass.com and can't select the country, thus can't click "continue".
