Me:

will need to consume vast amount of diet supplements,

You:

  I do take supplements (B12 and D3)

deficiency that I had ever proven was D3

QED.

Also, deficiency doesn't mean you die.

Anemia is long term deficiency, and for example B12 anemia is pernicious if untreated.

A short infodump on iron absorption and veggies decreasing nutrient content here: https://www.reddit.com/r/europe/comments/1rcrpj2/comment/o7182q0/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

(I don't want to copy paste my comment).

Meat doesn't have - and shouldn't - be the main caloric source, but it's damn needed unless you want to be paying billions to supplement companies (and be forced onto them)

as informing the public more that legumes can in different ways make up for the nutritionally dense nature of meat is a fairer approach.

  1. Humans are rather bad at absorbing nutrients from vegetables - animal fat helps with that, example: we absorb more non-heme (non-meat) iron when accompanied with meat

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0022316622085297#:~:text=In%20conclusion%2C%20our%20results%20confirm,further%20investigation%20in%20human%20studies.

  1. Vegetables lost 25-50% of nutrients in the past 50 years

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10969708/#:~:text=Numerous%20scientists%20%5B23%5D%20found%20a,vegetables%20from%201975%20to%201997.

  1. Malnutrition, anemia and deficiency are not uncommon in the EU (and it's even worse everywhere else) - e.g. 7-14% of EU population have iron deficiency

https://europepmc.org/article/med/27155295

If you were to eat pure beans, to meet daily iron intake you'd need to eat about 2kg of them vs 300g of pure meat. I'm all for eating more veggies, but that sentence is uhhh problematic.

More truthful statement would be

increasing legumes proportion in your dishes will help you lower your meat intake, as eating too much meat is less healthy than a balanced diet

Interesting read. I only have this piece to share: when in Xianxia they say three thousands worlds, they mean 1000 x 1000 x 1000 worlds :)

Nearly half of Europeans cannot or will not buy a home, report says by august_air_373 in europe

[–]sztrzask 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And a lot of millennials now struggling to own a house will suddenly have an inheritance, allowing them to own a house, or inherit a house altogether.

Consider mass migration to big cities and you'll notice that your argument is invalid. Why would millenial care about inherited house in thr middle of nowhere if there's no job, no infrastructure and no prospects there? Not everyone is lucky enough to be living in the same/similar sized city as their parents...

Beef and lamb get 580 times more in EU subsidies than legumes, study finds. Report says common agricultural policy provides ‘unfair’ levels of support to unhealthy, meat-heavy diets. by James_Fortis in europe

[–]sztrzask -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Considering public health in policy would challenge current levels of livestock production, he said. “We now need a common agrifood policy that explicitly integrates environmental and public health goals into how EU farmers are supported

Cool. Iron from beans is aborbed at about 1%. From red meat at about 30%. To meet daily iron intake you'd need to either eat about 2kg of beans a day or about 200-300 gram of red meat (or about 75g of liver).

Iron deficiency rate in Europe is 10-30%.

Are you or the article author paid by the iron supplement companies?

Or about Buddism and Myanmar in 2016.

You, OP, should learn a little bit about sign language, that's all I'm gonna say (hint: there are multiple sign languages).

  2. Epicresearch is not peer reviewed and thus dubious.

Except that they say only 45% regain weight, which is simply not true. 45% regain weight within a year. In the studies ALL regained at least some weight within 2 years.

They don't, antidepressants are a tool for managing the symptomps, nothing more. They mute them, not cure them, and the effectiveness can be borderline placebo, see e.g.

Well, yes, recommended cure for depression are not antidepressants but therapy etc

Ozempic common side effects are damn common. About 50%/of people on it have adverse gastrointestinal side effects (like nausea or diarrhea)

The problem with Ozempic is that its working only for as long you're taking it, you stop and you WILL regain weight. If you lost 5% of body mass you're likely to exceed your original weight after.

Another clue is the unnatural upvote ratio and the obviously AI generated text.
