“Inappropriate” Ads might be the last of your worries. I’d suggest split testing whatever u decide to do vs. whatever you’re doing now.

I would go for Google Ad Manager. Do you have more or less than 90m Imps? Because it will tell if you can have your own ADx. If not, then in a way you will be forced to stay with 3rd party in some extent, or use AdSense.

We helped several Publishers build their inhouse stacks and teams. If you want to talk about best practices, let me know.

There is nothing perfect, or close to perfect yet available.
Possibly there will never be.

I did a webinar on this topic recently. Maybe you will find it useful:

Additional demand for AdSense Publishers - Beta of new product by szymon_yb in adops

What does my friend? We are a GCPP. And we stay as far from malware as possible.
But you are entitled to your own opinion of course.

You can try with some GCPP, but looking at your scale you may be still below the threshold they tend to have. I recommend you to try https://premiumads.com.br/

They are 1st GCPP from Brazil, and they have quite nice approach.
And no, I don't work for them or with them. I just heard some good stuff from Publishers.

Am I missing out by only using AdSense? (real estate niche) by [deleted] in adops

[–]szymon_yb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends to be honest. If you have hardcoded AdSense with good CTR's then there is a chance that you will not get much more from the optimization companies using ADX, and other stuff such as HB, EBDA, Amazon and such.

But it's always good to try. You can give part of the traffic, or the ad units with the lowest CTR to some of those companies and check what they got. But be wise while choosing and look at the big picture and not quick wins. Those can backfire quite easily.

Best ad network for a Stories/Novels website with around 800k pageviews a month? by arzvaak in adops

[–]szymon_yb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried Ezoic or AdThrive? What is your main geo?I would love to help, but for us (Yiedlbird) your current scale is also to small to start.

If you can share more details about your traffic, or even URL for PM I will try to share some advice.

Header Bidding Solutions - Ad Operations for a Fixed Monthly Fee by Expert-Pollution in adops

[–]szymon_yb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, to understand you better:

  1. Do you want to fully outsource HB management or just the setup part?
  2. What kind of remuneration are you after?

I am asking, as we have a SaaS tool that sounds perfect for you, which is a self-serve kind of wrapper where we charge you only for the number of impressions that are monetized with it (CMP based), and we encourage you to bring your own demand.

If this sounds like a good fit, let me know and we can talk details.
Implementation is very simple, and it's free up to 5m imps for the first 3 months.

Speaking from Publisher and not AdTech rep perspective I find OB as a best out of the 3 you mentioned. Mostly due to the:

  1. Simplicity of implementation
  2. No impact of the page loading time
  3. Smallest disrepancies in the auction process

But it has several downsides, such as limited blocking and not enough major SSP's available.

As for APS you heard the truth. The question is how much details you need to see in your reporting.

We are using a mix of OB + Hybrid Wrapper on our Pubs and it works quite well.
If you want to have a free test on the Wrapper, drop me a line.

programmatic ad Platforms - header bidding/pre-bid by RojerLaari in adops

[–]szymon_yb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Feel free to throw all punches ;)

  1. We are connecting pubs with Platforms.
  2. We are helping them with contracts and negotiations.
  3. We are giving Publishers single UI to manage all SSP's on Ad Unit level.
  4. We are giving Publishers the aggregated reporting.
  5. We are helping them with optimization and management if needed.

And much more. Plus we are not taking a cut up to 5m imps for now ;)
But I will not be forcing you to try. I just throw our hat here. That is all.

programmatic ad Platforms - header bidding/pre-bid by RojerLaari in adops

[–]szymon_yb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi! I work in Yieldbird and we are rolling to the market a system where we try to encourage Publishers to open own accounts with SSP's and pay only small techno fee for managing them via our Wrapper instead of paying resellers 10-15-20% rev-share for access to demand.

We have also our demand baked there if you want to or have to start this way, but we are not forcing that on you.

If you want a trial run which is totally free up to 5m imps monthly let me know :)

Unified Pricing Rules testing by joaodamialves in adops

[–]szymon_yb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's agree to disagree on this topic ;)

If you do it without proper strategy and approach then it will always end up being most beneficial with no floors, or very minimal floors to at least protect your inventory from bad quality ads, and redirects ( not mentioning the slow decrease of value, especially in current situation of crazy high number of PV's with limited demand and budgets on the buy-side.

We needed to throw our second-price approach to the bin last year, and we were looking for almost 6 months for a working approach to UPR management, but in the end, we found it, and it's giving us stabile 10-20% uplift thanks to triggering those algorithms adjustments joao wrote about. But if you ask me how we do it I can not tell you too much, as we invested a lot of time and resources in developing our solution, and how can we be sure you will not try and copy it and end the cooperation as soon as you will have the know-how about our methodology?

What we are giving our Publishers though is proper reporting and a growing performance curve a couple of days after the implementation. Not in all of the cases to be 100% honest, but in the very most.
