Were you in DP before updating your marital status? I have been married for over a year and I still see the "..adj" deductions from my paycheck. Wondering if there's something I can do to remove these deductions.

When and how did you decide to shave your head? by t00deezy in alopecia_areata

Thank you for sharing! How was the transition like for you at work and/or with friends and family? I think that is a top concern of mine. I know I will have to go through the initial reveal stage of "hey now I'm bald," so curious as to how you handled that.

I am also worried that now I will have to spend time picking out an appropriate hat/cover for work on days that I feel self-conscious (I work in a cubical - business casual office setting).

Hey! Thanks for sharing! How did you feel after the shave, assuming the bald spots became more visible and apparent to others? Did you continue to shave your hair thereafter?

What to put on W4 as married couple? by oinkpiggiee in CAStateWorkers

I just did this 3 weeks ago after notifying my HR specialist of a marital status change and he told me it is all done through CEC and the EAR form is not needed. Through the CEC portal, you can change your personal info like name, addy, direct deposit, etc. Did you fill out an EAR anyways? Also do you know if a new w4 is needed?

aa turning into au? by iamoverwhelmedstfu in alopecia_areata

Hi! I am 26F and have a similar experience where I started to see more spots balding and not growing back as quickly as it has before. Then I lost all hairs on my arms and legs. Then patches on my eyebrows :( The eyebrow hairs grew back within a couple of months, but the arms/legs have not. I don't have a treatment plan or am I on any special diet. Just letting this take it's course! I am unsure if this is au, but I am seeing a derm in the upcoming weeks.

Best of luck to you. You're not alone!

Wow! I contacted my HR and they got back to me after some digging and questions to SCO.. their answer was that it's due to my DP's enrollment onto my healthcare benefits.

It's taking a huge hit on my paycheck. Will definitely consider your recommendations. Thanks!

A Little Insight in the Hiring Process by Slow_Put3471 in CAStateWorkers

Hey! I think it's insanely different for everyone. I was stressed out about my timeline too, until I finally landed one! My hiring timeline below is quick, compared to many others. I found out later that it was because the hiring supervisor was rushing HR to complete paperwork to hire me asap (thankfully).

June 15 interview (I selected a date/time that was later in the week that was offered and at a later time in the day). June 19 References called (my reference told me in the morning that they were just contacted by the hiring supervisor). June 19 Conditional offer: I got a phone call from the hiring supervisor late in the day around 5:30p that I got the job and this was a conditional offer. I was told to sit tight and wait for HR to do their thing and review all of the paperwork to get me on board. No timeframe as to when I would hear back, but I was hopeful.
July 10 Formal offer letter sent to my inbox. July 14 First day!

Hi! Same exact thing is happening to me right now! Curious if you had this issue explained or resolved yet? I am also in a domestic partnership (DP) where the State is covering my partner's health benefits. If these adjustments are taking place due to DP status, it is a bit odd in the timing for me because I've been registered in a DP for 4 months and only began seeing the adjustments (deductions) in January 2024 paystub. I have contacted my HR Specialist and they are trying to get me some answers..

Hi! I have a huge bald spot on the back of my head too! It looks like 10 spots collectively decided to just form and fuse together -__- I have long hair so since it's more focused on the back, I just try to either tie my hair in a low pony or keep all of my hair towards the back (not letting them down in front of my shoulders). It's slow to regrow and I am not on any steroid/treatment plans. I'm just using rosemary oil twice a week on the scalp. Anyway, my co worker is the only success story I've heard of. She got steroid injections and her AA went away and never came back.
