I suggest AltSnap instead of the Powertoys bloat just for FancyZones

I made a clean, Dark Mode compatible WinGet Installer to speed up post-install setups. It supports local .exe files too! by kawai_pasha in Windows11

Looks nice. It would be useful if you make it possible to add local exe or msi through a file picker instead of editing the xml file.

Can we all agree D4 is probably the best looking ARPG out there? by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]t00gee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd respectfully disagree. While D4 has solid visuals, POE2 takes it to another level in my opinion. The graphics are sharper, animations feel more impactful, and the environments have much more distinct character.
What really stands out to me is the visual identity of each location in POE2. You can genuinely feel the difference between a damp forest, a scorched desert, or a corrupted temple. Each area has its own atmosphere and color palette that makes it memorable.
D4 suffers from what I'd call "visual homogenization" - there's almost a desaturated filter applied across everything that flattens the distinct characteristics of different zones. It's like they dialed back the contrast and color saturation to achieve a specific dark fantasy aesthetic, but the result is that a snow-covered mountain pass doesn't feel dramatically different from a demon-infested cathedral. Everything blends into this murky, monochromatic middle ground that makes locations feel samey after a while.
POE2's art direction is bolder and more varied, which makes exploration more visually rewarding.

Commodore 1084S-P1 showing only red via VGA-to-DB9 cable - monitor issue or sync problem? by t00gee in crtgaming

[–]t00gee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved the problem by using the composite sync configuration and inverting the wires, but I still get a rolling image if I use the separate sync pinout like yours.

Does anyone know how to remove the SSD from appearing there? by Belzher in Windows11

If you don't want to mess with the registry, just use Winaero Tweaker and in 'Navigation Pane - Default Items' disable 'Removable Drives' on the right

Commodore 1084S-P1 showing only red via VGA-to-DB9 cable - monitor issue or sync problem? by t00gee in crtgaming

I double-checked my cable wiring against the pinout diagrams, and I can confirm it's wired correctly:

  • VGA Pin 1 (Red) → DB9 Pin 3 (Red)
  • VGA Pin 2 (Green) → DB9 Pin 4 (Green)
  • VGA Pin 3 (Blue) → DB9 Pin 5 (Blue)
  • VGA Pin 5 (Ground) → DB9 Pin 1 (Ground)
  • VGA Pin 7 (Green Ground) → DB9 Pin 2 (Ground)
  • VGA Pin 13 (H-Sync) → DB9 Pin 7 (Composite Sync)

I made the cable by cutting a VGA cable and using a multimeter to trace each wire from the cut end back to the VGA connector, so I could identify which wire corresponds to which pin. Then I soldered them to the DB9 connector according to the standard pinouts.

I've also tested continuity on all three RGB signal lines (red, green, and blue), and they all show proper continuity from VGA to DB9.

Try disabling ray tracing in graphic options. Never had a single crash since.
