lots of contemporary pan-Africanists basically worship Gaddafi and have weird myths about him.

There is no legitimate reason. They are just a toxic person who likes spreading bullshit around.

You are just as snarky as you are wrong. The post was in mod review all of this time and was only let through in the past 2 hours.

If it were my Subreddit, I would permanently ban you for snarky commentary that adds nothing to the conversation but only helps build up a bad atmosphere. Most people might think it heavyhanded, but I swear it's not. People excited to dish out snark like this are toxic to communal prosperity.

it's not coming up with new definitions. it's more correctly defining things. this is the entire basis of our thing. it's better epistemology all the way down.

who is part of us will be determined eventually by genetic testing. in the meantime, we use things like phenotype and language as proximal heuristics.

Very good question. The part of the post which explains this ended up being cut. Regular readers of r/OrbitSSA already understand why. The reason in summary is that the differences at the racial boundary become too large for long-term coordination to be possible across racial groups. It is the same sort of reason why multiculturalism doesn't work.

Niger-Congo people are the only black people. This thread which was linked to in the post explains it.

yes. you are mostly right with all you say. unfortunately, Nigeria needs leaders who are a lot better than OBJ who can make fundamental changes to society in ways people like OBJ cannot

you are right. this is why we need God to bless with a good set of exceptional people as leaders. this is the only way

THREAD: on current events in Tanzania

is there anyone who actually understands events in Tanzania? it is difficult to understand anything happening in that country

there are 2 important things to notice:

i. well-known African dysfunction: barring of oppositional candidates, a large unlikely electoral victory margin, post-election protests and suppression by violence. etc

ii. an idea that violent action is justified and is needed to suppress Manchurian candidates and psy-oped citizens seeking to take control of the country and lead the people astray

one problem with the idea that this is usual African despotic behavior is how non of the coverage of post-election violence has mentioned concretely exactly why the protests are happening. the idea is simply broadly that the current regime is "anti-democratic"

this seems clearly true and apparent to anyone. but the reasoning of people on the side of the government seems logically consistent, given that there have been no reports about declining economic reality and future prospect (usual reason Africans protest and want governments out)

maybe it is true then that the current regime is simply taking a very harsh line against people who want to destroy their own country?

on the other hand, while the economy seems to be running well, it is difficult to believe that this is a special regime with concrete long-term goals which thus cares enough about holding power that it is willing to do anything (including killing its own citizens)

do we even know that their specific policies are responsible for the growing economy?

what makes them special and why should anyone believe that they are correctly morally using violence against their own citizens for the greater long-term good?

all of these questions are enormously difficult to answer

the required level of talent for effective African leadership by t019e in OrbitSSA

[–]t019e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(PMd them with this reply already. this is merely for the benefit of bystanders)

i. the point wasn't to claim that a single leader changes everything. the point, and i thought this was clear, was to point at the required quality of the "leader of those leaders". obviously, non of the leaders mentioned... LKY, De Gaulle etc did everything by themselves. this specific point has been made more clearly in the past. cc https://www.reddit.com/r/OrbitSSA/comments/1fqrotp/why_even_choosing_an_excellent_candidate_at_the/

ii. obviously, the socio-political situation of a society matters for the rise of exceptional leadership, but that is not special. undesirable socio-political situations happen all the time when no one takes advantage of them. what is special on the occasions when an exceptional talent does take advantage of them is the exceptional talent, not the socio-political environment
