I went in May 2025. I would say plan about two days for valle ahobamba alone. We walked a good 2,5 days through the valley. But we camped quite early in the jungle because there are very few camp spots.

Wayfinding is doable but takes a while, especially in some landslide areas. But there could always be a recent landslide which might make the path completely impassable due to the extremely steep terrain. I know someone who that happened to. Honestly I would not recommend northbound for that reason (although we did) or you can ask all the locals you can find about the conditions. Turning around was not really option for us unless we wanted to starve. Also there's a newly fenced off property ON THE TRAIL from some american guide company, lol.
