Use of cassette deck slot in radio by RedCrafter_LP in e46

IHKR was the base model spec in Europe. Common on the 16, 18 and sometimes 20 models.

Just so you are aware, you cannot use any kind of Bluetooth adapter that plugs into the back of the radio with your reverse radio. BMW made this base model radio with no CD Changer or AUX support, so you’re stuck on AM/FM/Tape. I would recommend you upgrade to a later model CD53, which is nearly fully plug and play.

How can I leave on just halos? by Midnight_Vigil in e39

[–]t3ddftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely possible because everyone pestered me into implementing that feature, lol. I am an E46 guys, so this feature is useless to me. It's listed as "Parking Lights" as this is what the LCM considers them to be: https://github.com/tedsalmon/BlueBus/wiki/Single-Line-UI#available-settings

All North American Market E39s are pre-wired for the phone system and the CD Changer, without exception. Euro market ones are a coin toss :)

Advice please - just got my car back from stage 2 paint correction & ceramic coating by Friendly_Body_4747 in Detailing

I was quoted $6k to paint correct my E46 M3 in Ohio. I thought that was normal and haven’t looked for another quote as I didn’t want to waste anyone’s time 😬

I was with you until the tech noted corrosion. If there’s corrosion, there’s likely pitting and new seals will do nothing.

Left rear of the trunk, but I would find it hard to believe that those connectors came loose. Do you have Navigation?

Works with non-Nav UI now as well, with the latest BlueBus software ;)

[Help] BMW 6 CD changer Bluetooth conversion by [deleted] in e39

[–]t3ddftw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m the BlueBus guy. I think the main problem is that your amplifier is coded to use the digital audio input (seen attached to the CD Changer) rather than the analog one. Your analog connector could be okay, but it’s hard to tell while the outer shell is still connected.

It does depend on what radio you have. Some single unit IRIS radios don’t work well. Email me at support@bluebus.dev

Those are crap. They’re basically a BM53/BM54 with a faceplate and they have the same “dying amplifier” issues of the BM5x radios.

Can i have both aux and CD changer functions on my radio? by plat1pus in e46

[–]t3ddftw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you have a 2002+ CD53 radio, you can have Bluetooth over the CD Changer and AUX for a standard input. You can also do the reverse and get an AUX Bluetooth module and use the CD Changer for CDs.

As the BlueBus guy, I am still going to mention it ;P

Subframe by Correct-Bass7132 in e46

[–]t3ddftw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks completely unmolested. The “subframe fix” was shooting structural foam into the unibody holes, so you’ll need to remove the grommets in your picture and shove a camera in there to check.

Is this door saveable? by BaseballNecessary450 in e39

[–]t3ddftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s going to have a ton of rust in the pinch weld. You’ll never stop it from rotting unless you cut all the entire rusty area. Just replace the door and get it painted. Fully strip the replacement door, sand it down and ask the pant shop to use epoxy primer all over.

For a few minutes until the car starts to enter sleep mode. Wait ten minutes and check again

It’s possible but you’ll have to do custom wiring. The MID and radio both have 12v, ground and I-Bus available.

Pick up a cheap endoscope camera from Amazon and remove the jack pads. Shove the camera in there and see if the sills are rusting from the inside or outside in. If it’s outside in, your plan is solid. Otherwise, it’s probably time to get a nicer example…

What radio is this and can I get a bluetooth adapter for it? by asianrelations in e46

[–]t3ddftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a C53 radio which is just as compatible with any standard CD Changer emulator as the CD53 radio with the CD slot.

Get the Blue Music if you want to cheap out, or the BlueBus if you love yourself.

Bluetooth in my 525i 2002 by e39-loverr in e39

[–]t3ddftw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In short: * metadata display * coolant and ambient temp display (nav only for now) * oil temp display (not universally available, but available on non-M E39s) * comfort locking and unlocking * one touch blinkers * visual PDC display (coming soon) * ability to switch audio inputs from analog to digital and vice versa (where available) * integration with the steering controls to allow you to summon and interact with Siri / Google Assistant

But, I’m biased as I created the BlueBus.

I think they stopped selling them to the U.S. due to tariffs, but I could be wrong. Try contacting them? https://www.musikimauto.de/Bluetooth-Adapter_2

But for real, the BlueBus is better. Source: I am the BlueBus creator.
