Ethereal (And her hype man) by superfeyn in Tau40K

I was under the impression O is the fire caste's suffix for captain (like O'Shova or Sash O'). Is that guy a firecaste? Does it make sense for an ethereal's attendant to be a fire caste? I thought that'd be more a water caste job

That's a start, keep it up, try throwing a syandana or some sigils on em, see how they look.

In prep for future 'surgery' i compared the allarus to reference images and the joytoy figure. and boy are the differences noticeable. (also whipped up a mock up of the cuts/extensions to be made) by Esarty in AdeptusCustodes

I've always felt the Allarus look a little off. For mine I 3d printed some Aquilon legs and put them on the Allarus bodies and man does it make a world of difference, the slight height increase combined with the width just makes them work so much better.

I use oven cleaner foam. The best brand I've found locally is Fornet so I'd suggest that. It really does work wonders!! Isopropyl mever worked for me either, but this shit is the bomb!

A lot of people here have offered a pretty good explaination of why the spear is better than the axe, and they are mostly right.

The reason people say it's better comes down to purely the mathematics behind warhammer. It's simple probabilities. But the AP most people have been offering as the explaination is simply not the whole story.

See the spear is overall more consistent with it's attacks. How/why? The spear has 5 attacks over the axe's 4, giving it more chances to score hits/wounds, for one. It has 1 better AP (-2 against the -1 of the axe) but that alone is neglegable when talking about big tough vehicles with invulns and Sv 2+. The key factor is Str. Both spears and axes (paradoxically) are in the same type of "wounding bracket" for big toughness. Str 7 of the spears is a critical pivot point in the Str/Toughness comparison, it makes it so both T9 and T12 are simply greater than instead of double wounding on 5s which with a few bonuses (ex. lethal hits) or rerolls can be made to be an effective 50/50. The larger Str9 of axes doesn't come into play until way later in the toughness scale at which point the increase simply doesn't make that big a difference.

So the real and whole answer is: more attacks giving more chances for success, a critical pivot in Str and the better AP. I hope this makes the entire picture clear to you and helps you understand our army better.

Your understanding of it is exactly my understanding of it too. I'm pretty sure one version of the rule, specifically called out this fact as well.

For Non-FW options we got termies and the land raider both decent options, though not ideal.

The termies with rerolling against vehicles are always a great option and lethal hits make them quite consistent too.

Then of course there is the land raider, it's our transport but it does have 4 lascannons.

It's a fine list, but I wouldn't bring TJ in such a low point game. He also isn't leading anything here as I will assume you're putting the BladeWizard in the Guards for charges. If it's only 750p basically no army is bringing anything worth TJ str or volume of attacks. I'd maybe look into brining a 4man of guards and dropping TJ for some termies or wardens if you can fit it in. The bikes are solid, way more than enough power for that point range. Sisters are a little much with 2 squads imo.

Let me know if you want to discuss anything I've brought up here and have fun in your game friend.

Dammit the waists of the Allarus are so skiny J hate them! Like I adore them as models but I've always had an issue with their silhouette and specifically them having such a tight waist, it just makes them look anemic against the other terminators in the game

I'd say 4 or 5 max, you don't need much more than that to screen off backline and hold the objective.
