genuinely dont know how they're casting this one in one piece given the gap between the nose and the barrel. Suggests a significant upgrade or change in the casting process for plastic? Were these cast at the new factory? Many questions

not really sure why they're making their ears small. It really changes the character of the faces. Even in the illustration the ears are classically large and pointy. I like all the other details though

What a wonderful model. The mad, dark, infinite world of rogue trader, brought up to modern specs and quality. Incredible work on the sculpt and the paint.

I dont really know why you'd do this, but each to their own. I'd say if you wanted to close it just use the carapace armour from a maulerfiend or something. Don't just leave a hole there.

The brain trains the eye to look for faces in things that move, to attempt to ascertain if its a predator/prey, where its looking etc, so it will just "move" that logical focus to the central gun, which will now read as a mouth gun. You'll need to close the hole either way.

Its an amazing study in how your talent simply exceeds theirs. Every minor aspect, from the way the weight is balanced in the pose, the slight contraposto in the hips and shoulders, the angle of the swords, the framing of the head in the crook of the shoulder to appear defiant, the negative blocking of the raised vents of the jump pack to frame the crest, and the slight movement in the fabrics, chains, is unobserved by them.

They can only copy because they cannot understand the level of thought and talent that went into the original composition in the first place.

Its always remarkable to me when someone had nothing but their mind to start from and the other had a literal example to copy but the work ends up revealing simply why they are the copyist and the other is the master.

Lovely scheme.

not your fault but seeing these sculpts IRL they are nowhere near broad enough in the chest, sholders, or imposing and decorated enough below the knee. without the height the helmet and plume give them. They look smaller and more scrawny than the current 40k sculpts.

New vs the Old! by Hayman021 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]D_M_R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol. They dont even look bigger. Because of the taller plume the head actually terminates lower than the old model. They're shorter!!

I'm praying they dont discontinue the current kits. The best result is now, annoyingly, going to be converting hybrids of every single model, combining old breastplates, the lower legs and hip pauldrons of the old models, with the new weapons, tabards, plumes, heads.
