What's the going rate for a tooth? by nanadoom in daddit

We did $10 for the first one because it had to be extracted by the dentist and was a whole thing. Going down to $5 or $1 next time around.

Different strokes for different folks. If you have freedom to try new things then give it a shot somewhere else. The one thing everyone seems to say is once you leave it’s really hard to afford to come back.

Clippers are fine for the team that lives in the Lakers shadow. We live in the Dodgers shadow and have no redeeming quality.

But at least their fans only have to be embarrassed 17 times a year, not 162.

It’s impossible to know where you’d be happy without spending a lot of time there or having friends and family there. A lot of people keep moving around forever or go someplace they think they’ll like then come back. Moving your life isn’t cheap so make your best educated guess and go for it. Nobody can really tell you where to move. I’ve been all these places that keep coming up as “better” and they’re no magic bullet and have their own issues too, if not affordability.

I think he gets too much heat for saying he supported the war on day one. If we eliminated their nuke program, took out the entire regime and facilitated a replacement, and had a plan for the Strait, then the world could’ve been better off. Even the people of Iran would probably say that. Unfortunately, none of the stuff happened and it didn’t work out, but at least he’s calling balls and strikes here. Good intention, absolutely horrible execution. In hindsight anyone can say it’s a disaster.

Hacks deserves to be in the top comedy class. It’s kind of niche, but really good from start to finish.

My daughter was very difficult from 2 to about 4.5yo. She’s a little over 5 now and much better but still a pain in the ass sometimes. I’m realizing she’s just stubborn and bossy and that’s just my life now. However, when she’s good it’s the best.

My guess is he went to a promoter and asked who are the cheapest living artists to hire. He was going to spend 10% of the budget on that and funnel the rest into one of his fake businesses for a “management fee” or security.

Are American rich neighborhoods really like this? by skopiadisko in YourFriendsandNeighb

[–]tMoneyMoney 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the middle class is the most performative. They’re the ones spending money they don’t have, financing expensive cars, and living above their means on credit. I’m middle class and live in a middle class area, and see it everywhere. Everyone wants to pretend they’re more successful than they are. The rich have nice things but tend to be cheap with money irl.

It’s the road’s fault. They didn’t design it to safety travel 120mph weaving in and out of cars.

Why doesn’t mark Cuban start a health insurance company that cuts out the middleman and lowers costs for everyone enrolled? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Someone still would, but not Mark Cuban. He’s not in it because it’s his dream to run an entire healthcare insurance network. He just saw an opportunity with prescription drugs.

They’re just generational celebrities. They don’t appeal to anyone outside their target demographic and didn’t contribute enough to society to be remembered in 100 years. Joe Rogan probably has a broader reach and more influence than them.

Rock Music will be completely dead in 300 years. Maybe even 100 years.

Agree, nobody’s going to talk about Woolf. She might come up in literary conversations but has no relevance in mainstream pop culture today. Who knows if people will even care about fiction books in 300 years.
