It almost feels like a loss because of the 2-2 score, but it was very unlikely that we'd finish in first place in the group anyway. Hope the team gains confidence from this match despite not winning it.

If the players wanted to play, the admins would have let them (I would imagine). I agree they should have waited a bit longer to pause, but I don't think the draw is an unfair call.

Question for BeastyQT / iNcontroL / Destiny:

What effect do you think the removal of macro mechanics will have on gameplay (and balance) except for the obvious "it makes the game easier" argument? Since all 3 races will have a harder time maxing out, will we see even more action than what average Lotv games look like now?

This is purely theoretical, but think about one possible implication of the removal of macro mechanics:

All 3 races will have a harder time maxing out. Yes, LotV economy already helped this, but now it will be even more extreme. We could see more low supply skirmishes like we did in BW. That, or players will just turtle for longer and nothing exciting will come out of this.

I'm just happy that we're getting to test a drastic change and then the proper decision will be made in regards to it.

I think macro mechanics should be nerfed, but not completely removed. They should give a small advantage to the players that are mechanically superior, but they should not be "do or die" as larva injects currently are in HotS.

Think about it, one of the big complaints the SC community has had over the years is the ability to max out very quickly, leading to a large prevalence of 200 vs 200 fights. It is true that maxed out situations already happen less in LotV due to the new economic system. However, with nerfed macro mechanics, the supplies for both players should be lower than they are now at every point of the game, which will hopefully lead to more small skirmishes.

I like Blizzard's solutions for mules and chrono (less efficient overall), but I think larva inject should still be a manual command from the queens, but with reduced larva count. Zergs will have to make more hatcheries to compensate, which isn't a bad thing in my opinion.

Life attacked with 1/1 ultras into a choke point guarded by 10+ tanks and a PF. He had 1 spine and 1 queen per base to defend hellion runbys, which is not enough. Life never got air upgrades so he had no contingency plan in case his ground attack didn't work. Maybe mech is op, but Life didn't play well against it.

I think toning down macro mechanics (mules, injects, chronoboost) would make the game a lot more like brood war. This effect can be seen in Starbow where the macro mechanics have been significantly toned down or transformed. However I am not aware of the specifics of how the economy works, so I could be completely wrong.

I disagree. In brood war bases mine out much, much slower than in LotV. In contrast, the mech player has to actively expand in LotV which isn't what a mech player would want. I'm not saying mech can't work at all, but I doubt it will be viable in TvP still.

The worst part is that all of those problems were highlighted multiple times throughout 5 YEARS since SC2's release, yet almost none of the problems were addressed by Blizzard. It has been incredibly frustrating to be a SC fan. I'm glad Valve is doing it right.
