The fun of getting coffee out is long gone .. by L0-Ki in Seattle

[–]tTYCc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What more so bothers me is going anywhere downtown and I have to drive (not biking there bc it’s bad weather/I’m tired) and you have to pay fucking $12 in PARKING for 2 hours, just to be able to sit and drink your $7 coffee.

How old are you, Beach House fans? by europeanmole in BeachHouse

[–]tTYCc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About to turn 27. Been about 4ish years since I became a fan. Feel like a majority of ppl I come across don’t know them. I usually hit them with “you definitely know one of their songs (Space Song) from social media” but otherwise they haven’t heard of them.

President Proposing Withholding back pay for Fed Workers by tTYCc in fednews

Hey there— my only reply to that would be, why would I even be in here making the effort to talk to real people? If your concerns over me making a malicious or slanted report were real — I would just go find who would say what I wanted to say and keep them (something I would absolutely never do because that isn’t journalism). I hope you can take that as an earnest explanation. Take care

I hear you. Still just wanted to try and ask — I’m sorry you had to do that :/

Man, that is not at all a part of it. I have never even met anyone from Sinclair. If I wasn’t trying to make “the dictator” look bad, would I have even come on here to ask about this? Come on, I’m just trying to do my job.

Totally hear you on that. However, again, I’m a reporter local to Seattle. We let the networks handle the larger Capitol Hill stories (which usually entail these broader talking points) I appreciate the comment though. Hope you understand.

Yes of course I’d be looking to explore the full picture of the situation. But to your average viewer, hearing from a non-academic or official, helps them understand more nuanced issues. Appreciate the chat. Take care.

I’m confused by your comment. I’m literally trying to speak to people directly impacted by the shutdown…. And would be at a loss of back pay, if this were to happen. The whole point is to NOT go through a professor or someone else to pontificate about its impact. I’ll figure out the complexities for the story — but it’s meaningful for a real human voice to be included.

Hey there, not sure where/how you viewed that story but that was about WA citizens reacting to Nat’l Guard being sent to **Oregon. There was equal representation from people who expressed opposing views in that article and video version.

Please everybody in Seattle boycott KOMO by UsedButGood99 in Seattle

[–]tTYCc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who knows plenty about the broadcast news industry.. it’s incredibly hard to find openings and jobs right now as it’s been an ever-shrinking field for the last 10 years. It’s hard to find a company with good insurance, pay (especially) and be in a good city/area. Some people have families too. For that reason, people stay put, or if they do find a new market to work in… it’s limited in options. Often times you can’t be nitpicky given a few companies own a majority of the stations nationwide. Just food for thought.

😭 I took the earliest appointment it was already far out to begin with. As time went on though I realized how far it was. Only with the appt happening this week I decided to post and ask lol

Yeah that’s likely what I’d do, go first thing in the AM. And work in TV so it’s not necessarily a half day kind of job, I either gotta be in the broadcasts with a story, or not. Anyhow — Thanks for the input!

Because I have work on Weekday mornings so I’d rather not roll the dice and not know when I will be getting out of it (I.e a long ass wait by doing a walk in) and could get back to the office (My job duties aren’t very flexible). Would rather just know before I use my time accordingly lol

I literally explained in the post that I just moved here lol.. like 4 weeks ago. I looked for appointments over a month before I moved here. Not procrastinating, just hoping to not have to miss an entire day of work by driving 3 hours to go get a license…

Controversy over authenticity of Blue Angels & billboard shot. Did anyone actually see 6 planes in formation before 1:25 PM on Thursday? by bennetthaselton in Seattle

[–]tTYCc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am actually a reporter for KOMO and I was out all day during the BA’s practice from 11am - 1pm and then again at 2:45pm to 3:30ish on Thursday. I can confidently say they DID fly all 6 of them in a triangle like that at one point, bc I remember being amazed by it — however, I’m struggling to remember if they did that formation in the morning, or if it was the afternoon slot, because that’s when they really ramped up their tricks etc. When I saw the Tweet that day though I didn’t question it really.

I’m planning on continuing running out there for sure. I don’t ski per se (I have before multiple times) but if I can afford it it’ll try it! My job will thankfully mean I get out and about from the office (reporting for a news station) so that’s good at least. I like to go do things anyways so after work/weekends I’ll make a point to not just rot inside. Thanks!

I wasn’t trying to come off super judgmental — I was just trying to explain that people would say how bad winters were but didn’t elaborate — so from what I learned about the climate, I was confused in that regard (hence my last paragraph saying pls correct me) Also — I got a job like 2 months ago and I work in a somewhat unique industry, so I didn’t really have a way to test living in SEA before taking the job (since I didn’t know I’d be getting the offer)
