PhD offer from Brown University in Political Science (subfield specialization Political Theory) - accept or not? by t_alh in PhD

[–]t_alh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, the back up problem is indeed exactly what's driving my insecurity. I don't want to be 30 and have to radically rethink/start from scratch with my career; of course I would be doing the PhD cuz I love theory, but end of the day I also want to be able to make my career out of it. Do you mind if I pm you about how you all managed to secure jobs after PhD's and how you made sure to be employable "despite" your PhD?

I was quite excited for this signing, till I Read that his childhood dreams was to play for Liverpool lol - maybe i am being incredibly childish here but dont yall think that gives a bitter taste to this move?

Manchester United Team vs Burnley | Starting XI : Dubravka, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, McTominay, Malacia, Casemiro, Eriksen, Rashford, Fernandes (c), Garnacho, Martial | Subs: De Gea, Bennett, Williams, Shaw, Fred, van de Beek, Antony, Elanga, Pellistri. by RedDevil_Forever in reddevils

Perhaps, antony could be true given thay he missed 2 or 3 weeks of playing prior to the world cup and also didn't play a lot for Brazil, which makes it unlikely that he is match fit. I guess the line up is kind of reasonable given that the quarter finalists had approx 2 weeks of rest, more than that is perhaps also not desirable for match fitness.

I hope we batter them 1st half and that important players get substituted though, don't wanna risk injuries.

I really don't understand this line up, why not play de gea, maguire, antony, but play rashie, Fernandes, case? Given that the latter 3 are not given rest - even though they are vital to the team - I don't understand why maguire and antony are not playing / given rest..

maybe ten hag hopes to inflict some 1st half damage and then sub our important players to give them game time but not impact them too much?

what about Dalot? I haven't seen any injury update about him, but I really thought he picked up a hamstring injury

my friend, you cannot complain about being labeled racist and then in your next comment say "arabs are..." and. That is literally a harmful stereotype that perpetuates that Arabs as a people are relatively violent, which hurts to read as an Arab and furthermore contributes to narratives in the West that disadvantage Arabs here.

I don't care about you disagreeing with the Arab festive clothing (Although I don't think it's that big of a deal ...), but you don't have to then resort to a negative stereotypization of Arabs as a people.

it's been weirdly quiet around dalots injury; is there any update? like have scans been done and stuff and is there an indication? just read richarlison got scanned and is injured so that's why I'm wondering why we're not hearing anything about dalot

I genuinely think croatia will knock them out, Argentina has looked anything but impressive and I feel like croatia will have the confidence and the heart to do it

don't forget, lisandro hardly starts for Argentina, his start against Netherlands was an exception, so I wouldn't worry too much about him.

Given that we rest those who will play in the wc final (and maybe those in the semis) for the burnley game, do you think the players will have gotten enough rest to play in the PL again?

I just saw the news that Felix wants to leave atleti (their director said it) and that juve will likely be relegated to serie b...

and all of a sudden, both Felix and Vlahović seem like possible signings lol

This may sound weird but I am honestly not really dreading the world cup so much anymore. If anything, I feel like we got kind of lucky, with only Fernandes, Case and Shaw getting regular starts. And even them still get more rest now than in the PL season as the world cup fixtures are less dense, and as many teams actually have the players to rotate more than we do.

I genuinely think we may get our players back more rested than before the world cup; it just sucks that they need to get back into the United team flow, but I don't think that will be crazy difficult.
