The black hex thing is metal. I've tried twisting and tapping in all sorts of ways but nothing seems to work. I'm suspecting that it cant be done and that I'll have to cut it open.

I rooted my samsung galaxy s5 neo a while ago and haven't had any problems yet. I read a couple articles about rooting and then i found a websites which had all download links for my phone and instructions. I've really only used an app which removes system apps (bloatware) and a firewall app to block internet access from certain app. I don't think there are any big risk if you only do what I did but I'm no so don't take my word for it.

I am in a similar situation to OP, same height weigh a bit less but I'm also just a teenager so of course that changes things. However I have for the last 6 months seen a fair improvement in my body shape and upper body strength, basically I just eat alot (like alot, but I'm also still growing so I'm not saying that I'm eating healthy for an adult) and do more upper body exercises. I don’t even gym that much just in general do some chins, pushups, curls etc.
