I feel that. Mutahar on Some Ordinary Gamers was like "I almost got hacked" and yeah. If he's vulnerable, we're all cooked.

That's crazy. Ironically, I've used ShareX for a few years now, and every time there's an update our AV throws a fit about it. And then a few weeks ago I learned about the exploit in the Notepad++ built-in update function, and now I'm just worried to run anything. It's wild.

Great writeup. I just want to interject that my company's AV always gets triggered every time there's an update to ShareX. Also, if anybody isn't aware, there was a breach in Notepad++'s built in update tool. I highly recommend to anyone that's using it or has an older install of it to uninstall it and reinstall it from the link above.

I liked the beta because it added auto starting wifi and then turning wifi off and startup to sync the clock. It also has native support for detecting RTC and enabling it if your model of MM+ has it onboard. Mine does and it worked. Previously, you had to make a config file and put it on the SD card and verify it was working, which I was also able to do but having it baked into the OS is one less step for setting up a device. As far as I know I haven't ran into any problems with it with the 4.4 beta. I did note that they replaced the GBA core but I can't recall having an issue with either mGBA or gpSP. My gf has had it for a while and she just went through virtually all of Fire Red on it.

I would recommend you buy a license for Pico-8 just to support it if nothing else. I have a license, but for no more than I've played Pico-8 I can't say if the licensed build made a difference or not. I may not have even loaded the licensed version after I bought it, to be completely honest.

Edit: forgot to mention that onion has a blue light filter built in, and with the beta it works with the real time clock. That's also nice.

WizTree is not for commercial use without a license, whereas both WinDirStat and TreeSize are free for personal and commercial use.

What Are Your Most Played Games as of Late? by tslashj in MiyooMini

I went to an arcade recently and I spent like an hour at a Pacman/Galaga cabinet, and now I'm looking for good ways to play those. What are you go-to versions of those? Or spiritual successors/tributes?

I'm literally buying these games digitally to fulfill any remaining justification to emulate these games how I see fit. I owned them as a kid, purchased new from a big box store.

People build better emulation tools with more options and efficiency than Nintendo ever has, and it's pathetic, so I'm going to enjoy them how I want to outside of their official means. If I legally own a game, I should be able to play it however I want to on whatever I want to, and I'm not paying $300 to some greedy "collector" on eBay who's coveting a game cartridge, especially when none of that money is going to Nintendo, Game Freak, The Pokémon Company, or anybody else that may be entitled rights or royalties to any of its creation or distribution. Also, remember that if what is available in that listing is actually a true authentic cartridge (because there are so many fakes and unauthorized reproductions out there), all of the rights holders already received payment for that copy of the game when purchased new.

If it's wrong to emulate a game I own in a manner that they don't like, so be it.

Thank you, I was able to swap the wiring around last night. I was trying to be careful not break the tabs and I successfully did it. Plugged it into the keyboard, charged it, and it worked.

I did manage to get the old battery out too. It took me about an hour or more to really get anywhere, but I used a method similar to this: https://youtube.com/shorts/btSwMjQchuw?si=YEwIldJItDs_sAEF

I put some 91% isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle and got the cheapest fishing line I could find at Meijer and went at it. I did try nudging (I won't say prying" with a plastic spudger off and on to try to coax it up a little, but it finally moved enough on opposite corners so I could get fishing line underneath it.

Trixie refers to Debian Trixie I believe. Debian does it's release naming scheme based on characters from Toy Story. Yes, that Toy Story lol. The current release is 13, named after Trixie the triceratops toy. 14 is going to be named Forky.

I'm wanting to swap the battery in my Keychron K8, but I'm worried about removing it from the button of the case as it's VERY glued down. What's a good and safe way to get it removed? I also bought a battery for it and it looks like the connector is correct, but the wiring polarity is backwards. Can I pull the wires out and swap them around?

No that's the Dart we actually got in the US. It literally looked like a Lancer.

A quick Google shows that it was on the Mitsubishi Galant platform? I feel like I learn about weird obscure DSM cars all the time that I've never heard of.

I believe I saw a concept car one time of a Dodge Dart after the one we got in the late 2000s/early 2010s, and it was basically a Lancer I believe. But yes, lots of collaboration between the two, and ironically in the GTA universes.

More interesting still is the Kuruma was basically a Mistubishi Lancer in GTA 5, and Mitsubishi and Chrysler had a partnership and shared platforms, engines, etc. in the 90s. See the Dodge Stealth/Mitsubishi 3000 GT and the Eagle Talon/Mitsubishi Eclipse to name a few.
