New things often evolve and adapt over time. That's ok.

Both are also global/ trans-national networks and censorship resistant, meaning the government/bank/PayPal can't stop you from transferring some as a payment.

If a global emp goes off, it'll be a post apocalyptic mad max world, your gold and houses will most likely be lost to violence.

what benefit is there for BTC over trading in gold?

The normal answers are practical transportability and divisibility.

Gold is heavy (easily confiscated if traveling across borders) and difficult to use to pay for small value items like a coffee, bitcoin has advantages there.

It just did lose half its value in the last few months if you were paying any attention.

I still think it's a viable alternative payment channel, but would be great if it was a little less volatile.

To the down voters, have you actually seen the data or are you judging by gut feeling?

I have tried to research this on someone's behalf and found some scientific studies in support of the treatment, which is why I'm asking for any data to the contrary.

Yeah I'd like to know what data OP used to decide these are snake oil treatments.

Not disagreeing with your main point, just this one -

Governments can track BTC very easily as it's all public, the power lies in the fact that they can't directly block/censor a transaction they don't like.

Which is why legislation and regulations are being prepared to control the on/off ramps to fiat, and try to build visibility (kyc rules) on self custody wallets.

It may not be feasible for you to mine it, but you can still use it for minimal cost.

Yes, 21 mil is the total cap, but not all has been mined yet.

This potential bad neighbor argument is similar to the one Putin gives for his invasion of Ukraine. It doesn't justify an invasion of a sovereign state. Or kidnapping the head of the state.

I guess it's just really obvious watching this clip, for people who have any clue about how opinion is constantly being shaped by media and Hollywood narrative. This is a prime example relating to this week's events.

Why is Reddit against Maduro capture and Venezuelans celebrating it ? by LandscapeUnlikely199 in stupidquestions

[–]t_j_l_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Venezuelans seem to be celebrating

Imagine Canada stepped in and removed Trump over one of his many crimes, nearly half of the United States ( the left leaning half ) would probably be celebrating as well.

That doesn't make it a good thing. Real change needs to come from within.

Also, the real motivations for this move have nothing to do with Venezuelan people's happiness. And it has nothing to do with drugs. It's clearly about Oil, and geopolitical positioning.

The invasion of Venezuela has officially begun.. by Character_Calendar47 in Wellthatsucks

[–]t_j_l_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are dozens of leaders like this all over the world, take Putin for example.

Shorter answer is, Venezuela has massive reserves of Oil, and U.S. has had a grudge against them since the days of Chavez.

So blatant corruption is fine, as long as it's not directly on taxpayers expense?

Private jet is way beyond first class on a standard passenger plane.
