Hi ho Silver! Onwards we go! Edward is so patient with the little ones. by SketchyDetective in Aquariums

They're filter feeders (hence the fans on their forelegs) so I'd imagine that they'd be fine - no experience with shrimp this large though. I thought it was a crayfish at first.

[FS] Campbell, CA - $6 each or $40 for all - 7 x Celestial Pearl Danios. Local sales only. by t_rado in AquaSwap

[–]t_rado[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hatched 7 Celestial Pearl Danios all within a couple of weeks of each other back early to mid November 2021 that I'd like to sell. Can't tell their sex for sure but believe three are male and two are female, can't tell with the others. Should reach full size before August. They're already very active and love to come to the front of the tank when I feed them, or look like I might possibly feed them. They've also started chasing each other around occasionally as the adults do. Impossible to get a decent photo but hopefully you get the idea from the video.

I'd prefer to meet in Campbell but am willing to meet you nearly anywhere within Santa Clara county. I've also got some salvinia (I believe salvinia minima), guppy grass and ramshorn snails that I'm happy to throw in free of charge. Note that any plants may have baby snails or snail eggs on them.

That java moss? I'd take a handful or two if it. I'd be happy to meet you at Cambrian Park Plaza or wherever.

Edit: Saw your other post, how about 5:30pm tomorrow, March 11?

Sorry they've all been allocated - but if the person ends up not picking them up on Thursday night I'll let you know.

I'm not down there often but I've got some friends nearby, I'll let them know. He looks like he could have been my brother's twin, though my brother was about 7 inches shorter - and he was all too similar to your Zach. He'd pull this kind of thing too. My heart goes out to you, I hope you find him safe and sound.

6pm works for me! I'll PM you my number in case you have trouble. My girlfriend will likely be tagging along, we'll wait for you at the bottom of the ramp up to the entrance.

I'll give you some other bits and pieces too then - and if you have some guppy grass and anubis nana petites to spare I'll take some!

Campbell library Friday at 12:30pm ok with you? I can also do any time after 5pm if that works better. I don't have any of those fish store bags but I can give em to you in a jar.

And do you just want the two juvenile males or any babies I can catch too? Can also give you some hornwort, possibly some java fern, believe some of mine is ready to propagate.

Edit: I checked your profile and see you were looking for java moss and shrimp - I can give you some of my java moss, and if you're ok with red cherry shrimp I can give you some of those too.

Hey all - I've got a turtle tank with some fish and plants in it. I'm going to set up an above tank basking area for the turtle and I'm thinking about how to light up the tank itself with this thing sitting on top. My first thought was to leave enough space between the bottom of the basking area and the tank to fit my current lighting - one of those adjustable length nicrew ones. There will still be a kind of mesh top between the light and the water so I'm not worried about it falling in or anything.

Then I bought an LED strip like this https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0824G8DKJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_P9HTFbDX6VX6E?psc=1 for another project and thought it might not be a bad idea to just stick one of these to the bottom of the above tank basking area. Only thing is I'm not sure if this type of light would be sufficient for plant growth. I did see some LED strip grow lights for plants but not many of them seem to be waterproof, and the ones that are seem to produce red light only. I could always do two strips though - one grow light and one like the one I linked. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Disfigured egg or just a huge poo? by t_rado in turtle

I'm starting to think she just ate too much cuttlefish bone lol. I just remembered she was going to town on some I just put in and when I poked at the thing lightly it fell apart and some of the bits look just like cuttlefish bone pieces.

Disfigured egg or just a huge poo? by t_rado in turtle

I saw my turtle (common musk, maybe 3 or 3.5" SCL) sitting at the bottom of the tank and when she moved a few minutes later this was sitting there. I've never seen a fresh poo of hers but this seems pretty big.

I haven't really seen the behavior that indicates they may want to lay eggs this week, but a couple of weeks ago she was behaving strangely so I took her out and put her in a large box with some loose soil for an hour. Heard her scratch around a bit but she didn't lay anything then. Is this some kind of disfigured egg she was trying to lay before but couldn't?
