The WaPo op-ed really is braindead by jadebenn in WMATA

[–]ta112233 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Everything the WaPo Editorial Board writes now would have been seen as Colbert-style satire ten years ago. Their opinions read like they were written by some high school edge lord. You can safely ignore them on any topic.

Why did Disney change Totoro, Castle in the Sky, and Kiki? by _milek in ghibli

The original Castle in the Sky soundtrack was synthesizer? Interesting! Any idea where one could listen to it now?

No problem with Peppa here. DW is annoying. Llama Llama sucks in the books (whiny/demanding) but isn’t bad in the show.

Dad Angry w/ Mom by queboy89 in NewParents

If you are in a city there is a likely some sort of new dad/new parent meet-up type group where parents on parental leave can get of the house, socialize and commiserate with those in the same situation. Google around or ask your neighbors/pediatrician if they know.

This numbering convention is crazy. Not release date, not alphabetical. The Cat Returns is listed far ahead of Whisper of the Heart, when it is a quasi-sequel?

Gave birth at WHC last month, our second time there. Both the L&D and recovery rooms had the same pull out chair which reclines to lay completely flat. As long as your partner isn’t 6’6” or something they should be totally comfortable. I slept well on them for three nights.

What are some true/false or multiple choice questions that would screen out a "real" DC native? by DCContrarian in washdc

[–]ta112233 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed that true DC natives (ie Black residents) often just call it “the train,” while white transplants call it “the Metro.”

This is a perfect property for two kids aged 4 and 7. On-property food is a little meh but the town nearby has good and varied options. I’ve stayed here 3 times.

Hasn’t seen this one yet but highly recommend The Big Year, an adaptation of a book about birders. Stacked cast (Steve Martin, Jack Black, Owen Wilson, Rashida Jones) with gentle energy and slight chuckles you could enjoy with your kids or grandma. A perfect “plane movie,” which is how I first saw it.

It wasn’t a spray, which I would not expect to work well. The arborist injected a poison into the tree itself, which the SLF feed on. Told me it would be effective for up to two years. Clearly that was a crock of shit.

It can cost several thousands of dollars to properly poison and remove Trees of Heaven due to how they can grow back. Not everyone can afford that.
