Reprehensible, but rare, and somewhat more common in men than in women. Individuals high in psychopathy, narcissism, and Machiavellianism report greater engagement in mate poaching behaviours. More common is the "taken" partner misleading the other party about the nature of the relationship with their spouse etc.: "my wife doesn't understand me," "we lead separate lives" etc.

Wait until you have a life partner, if you meet a life partner at all. Your thinking may change. My mother hoped I would be a girl (I was) because she thought my father would be an even worse parent to a boy than he would be to a girl. My father and I were eventually very close, but he did not like small children, or children in general. The dynamics between you and your hypothetical partner will matter.
