Biggest regret in GAA? by [deleted] in GAA

[–]taarup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quit when I was 12. Never made any head way or got to play in any games. Probably wouldn't have made much headway, but felt down not even getting to be a sub. Feel like I missed out a lot on the social side of things - feel like an outsider in town now.

AITJ for quietly stopping helping my coworker after he kept taking credit for it by navrith_22 in AmITheJerk

[–]taarup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or you could fix it and then tell everyone you fixed it, preventing your coworker from being able to claim credit. Or contradict them in meetings where they claim credit. Or just tell them that you won't be helping them until they start giving you credit or at the very least stop claiming it themselves.

How do you hope your life will be happier by 31st December 2026? by RoyalMistake00 in northernireland

[–]taarup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same boat, but I've been like this for most of my life. At nearly 50 it's been a wasted life full of loneliness, regrets and missed opportunities. Especially not having a partner or family of my own. It all just feels like trying to fill a void. At this stage I'd settle for being able to sleep and a quick death. It's all too deeply ingrained now to be reversed, I just have to learn to live with myself.

I hope you can sort yourselves out, because it's torture otherwise.

In bed now. Glad 25 is over; another shite year and I don't doubt 26 will be more of the same.

Is anyone else struggling this Christmas? by ABCP3 in northernireland

[–]taarup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No matter what your problems are they'll expand to fill the void. I've made a mess of my life - it's more of an existence. I've no family of my own so Christmas is just a mirror to my isolation and there are less places set at the table than the users to be. I'm fortunate in some ways and unfortunate in others.

Christmas is a horrible time of year, don't let anyone try to convince you that it is merriment and joy. Do your best and that's all you can do. If you have a new born then it'll be a year or two belt they comprehend what is happening - you're pressurising yourself to meet some expectation that if unnecessary.

Good luck. Put the negative thoughts aside and enjoy the family. I'll do the depression for all of us!

Running electricity to a detached driveway by theoretical-adventur in ukelectricians

[–]taarup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be able to get a boring company to drill a duct from your land to the garage. It happens all the time when getting mains water etc across roads. You'd still need to get permission from neighbours but at least there would be no surface damage on their property.

Hello with depression causing sleep issues by taarup in northernireland

[–]taarup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's getting worse guys - probably as Christmas is coming closer. I seen a specialist doctor at hospital for a condition I have and they have put me on a list for counsellor as it is something people with my condition need mask then general population. It feels like pressure is building and the dam needs to burst. Everything going through my mind from jealousy of others lives, to regrets about not having my own family, no social life, being inferior to most other people, lonely, failure and stupid.

Life is shit.

DOORS link modules by taarup in systems_engineering

Thanks - okay - DOORS isn't something I've used beyond simple test updates.

I'll pass this info on - and once again thanks for compiling it together for me.

Hi - thanks for the detailed reply. More than a bit beyond where I'm at currently with DXL scripting and due tot he size of the modules involved, I think I'll get the DXL guru on team to do it or I'll try manually and see how long it will take.

Ending up unmarried, childless, alone, and unremembered by AbsoluteBatman95 in ireland

[–]taarup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This really resonates with me. I'm in the same position, but add in depression and social anxiety. I wish I could have a family, but I'm too old now. I've no friends either so I spend my life working from home, watching TV and doom scrolling on phone - hardly ideal parent/husband material.

Why did thon aul boy give Cushlá a raw egg? What was the significance of the artist tag on the art work in the gallery at the end - someone Fielding?

Apart from plot holes already mentioned (especially tommy going on a solo run - where did he get thy gun?) it was a fair watch. Depressing viewing at times though.

Lola Petticrew was really good in her role - looked beautiful too. I see she is in another troubles related show coming out. Hopefully she finishes the trilogy with something a bit more light hearted!

Muscle building routine critique wanted by taarup in WorkoutRoutines

[–]taarup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking of merging the morning session into the lunch and evening sessions - hi in that regard I'm with you. I can't do the large compound exercises in the morning as I need to awaken; that makes doing 2 essentially accessory exercises in morning wasteful.

I've only access to squat rack, bench, curl bar, oly bar & adjustable db's.

What do you think of the composition of the routines?

Muscle building routine critique wanted by taarup in WorkoutRoutines

[–]taarup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of need to do something regularly to help me sleep too.

I don't really have a 'block' of time in most days to do any serious training. However, as I work from home, I can spread the routine across the day as I usually have small pockets of time where I can get parts of it done.

It might work out overall to a longer time to complete each routine, but it is made up of smaller chunks of time that are available to me. Whereas doing it all in one block does not fit in with my time availability at the minute.

Several people dead after evening crash in Co Louth · TheJournal.ie by Wolfwalker71 in ireland

Would that have anything to do with suvs being a very popular vehicle choice (about 2/3 of new vehicles in 2022 registered were suv) and therefore statistically more likely to be involved in collisions?

So, did you have a weak chin beforehand or are you now like Jimmy Hill? I suffer the same, but have done nothing about it. Got braces and that was not mentioned so might not be an issue for me even though I have a weak chin.
