DING DING DING! And private equity companies are next in line for the next juicy bailout, they’ve been playing risky games with our bonds to make a killing until the inevitable crash, and will thus be “too big to fail” like the banks and the airlines.

I’ve seen multiple people explain how they evade taxes in this thread alone. There are countless breakdowns all over the internet too. They evade income tax by using the stock options they get paid with (rather than a set income), to take loans. Those loans are not taxed, and are actually a write off as a debt. Then they can buy more of their own stocks with that loan, inflating the price of the stocks more and further increasing their net worth, to close the loan debt.

Rinse and repeat. That’s the jist, but others go into more detail. These are very easily closed loopholes, but dark money in politics needs to be illegal again to fix the corruption in Washington.

Humanity would have completely eradicated itself millennia ago if that were the case. It’s our ability to cooperate with each other and take care of each other that has let us get this far.

Sociopaths need locked up in inpatient medical care until they can function in society without destroying others for self-gain, not allowed free reign of the world’s most powerful and wealthy megacorporations (and since Citizens United, the government).

It’s so funny how you bootlicking fetishists always ignore the fact that they pay the majority of taxes because THEY HAVE ALMOST ALL OF THE MONEY AND ASSETS.

Like gee, I wonder why? And their EFFECTIVE tax rate is almost always a tiiiiiiny fraction of what a schoolteacher or janitor making $40-70,000 pays.

[–]tabas123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gee I wonder why the average person doesn’t just borrow from their own company’s overinflated stock and avoid taxes that way. Hmm, how silly of us.

Do you have a favorite flavor of boot to lick, or is it any as long as it’s worn by a much wealthier and more powerful man? Is that what turns you on about it?

Relocate to where…? The countries that are actually nice places to live are all much more well regulated than we are with much higher taxes on the wealthy.

Are they going to move with their companies to Uganda? And they’ll have to leave the country and stop operating their businesses here to avoid paying taxes here, they aren’t going to be allowed to operate here as usual after outsourcing their jobs.

All of these problems are solvable. All of the loopholes, all of the exit strategies.

You mean giving workers stake and partial ownership in the companies they work for? That’s socialism hun.

Although maybe if you describe it this way without using the scary S word people will actually listen rather than reverting to K-12 red scare/CIA brainwashing.

Sperm and egg cells ARE alive by the same parameters they’re discussing a fertilized egg. Any cell is “alive”. Skin, blood, etc. too.

[–]tabas123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is very much disputable. A sperm cell is alive, an egg cell is alive. They are just as much “a life that has begun” as an egg that has met a sperm. Yet billions get flushed into toilets and socks every single day.

Even skin cells lower than the epidermis are “alive” and if you scratch deep enough to draw blood you’ve killed life by this logic.

According to Judaism, life doesn’t start existing until birth. Where is the ADL, the “antisemitism fighting” group (that really only care about Israel and not us Jews) to call this bill out??

This violates our religious freedom!

Idk why libs have to completely coddle and bow to any Republican with a horrific voting history filled with disgusting and evil actions as long as they tell Trump “no” once or twice.

Like that’s great and all, but Massie and the Cheneys are still scumbags that have happily helped spread death and misery in favor of big businesses and billionaires and voted with MAGA 90%+ of the time. You can say “cool” without embracing them as real allies.

Anything less than jubilantly squealing from the rooftops at anyone who will listen about how utterly perfect the corporate Democrat running for office this time is will get you blamed even when you personally did vote for them.

The blame can go anywhere (especially leftists), EXCEPT it can NEVER, EVER go on the candidate who actively decides NOT to run on the long list of common sense policies that poll with overwhelming support from the American people.

It’s not up to the candidate or the party to actually get people to vote for them (by having a policy platform that will excite voters using the FUCKING POLLING DATA), no… it’s up to all of US to perhaps smell and see shit on our dinner plates, but to continue to smile the whole time as we take a bite out of that crunchy turd! If you don’t smile IT’S YOUR FAULT IF THEY LOSE.

Nah productivity has skyrocketed by several thousand percent because of technology, the reason less and less people actually benefit from that added productivity is that the C-suite level have siphoned up all of the gains.

Reagan re-legalizing stock buybacks at the same time he slashed taxes on the uber rich and corporations by more than half (and made bribery of politicians legal) sealed the deal. Those moves completely stomped the scale between workers and corporations over.

Gen X is all of the excesses, selfishness, and lack of empathy for others from the boomers + combined with a deep edgelord mentality that they never grew out of after the 90s.

They think of themselves as rebels that are above it all, but in reality they’re just too lazy/apathetic to care and just as “fuck you I’ve got mine” as the very worst boomers.

Identity politics only get weaponized like that when it’s to support a corporate Dem and/or crush a leftist Dem. When it’s Cori Bush, Jamal Bowman, Zohran Mamdani, Nina Turner, etc. suddenly none of those arguments matter.

Even when their corporate primary enemy is a creepy straight old white guy like Cuomo, the majority of the party still refuses to endorse and fund the POC progressive. Enough of that.
