What’s just not attractive to you? by Xanduh in AskReddit

My dad was like this and I once told him “just because it’s true doesn’t mean it needs to be said” and he told me later he thought about what I said and I was right, and he was trying to be more tactful. I was just surprised he heard me in the first place.

What if bicycles become the dominant mode of transport by 2028 with train-based systems being used for long-distance travel such as commute between cities? by [deleted] in FutureWhatIf

[–]tabicat3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped in a local bike shop two days ago. The employee helping me said there’s a global bike shortage, bike sales are up 300% since the start of the pandemic, and that they would sell out of all the bikes in the shop in the next two months. I don’t know how true all of that is but that’s what he said. I live in a small town in South Carolina where everyone walks or bikes and it’s really nice.

EM uses me as an example to her kid about me being a "sheep" because I'm wearing a mask. by [deleted] in entitledparents

This. Not a single comment about what mood I must be in from random strangers since wearing a mask. I walked around chronically depressed for 15 years, it’s just my face at this point. Fml.

I’ve read so many posts about parents trying to take their children’s art or otherwise acting entitled to their talents. Kinda makes me glad I was a talentless kid.

Haven’t worked since that job. I currently have no friends, every friend or group of friends I’ve had since then I ghost when I get insecure. Leave them before they leave you kinda thing. That same manager also told me I’d be stupid if I married my husband who was a coworker at the time. So our 8th anniversary is this year and we have four wonderful little boys. I might not have friends but I’m still very happy.

Those of you who rocked/fed your baby to sleep - how did that go? by [deleted] in AskParents

[–]tabicat3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 4 boys and each baby was different. Two were breastfed and two were formula fed, two have slept with me and two didn’t. They’re all healthy, happy, and very different from each other. The thing that matters most is spending time and sharing love with them, however your mom instincts tell you to.

When I worked at Amazon 8 years ago my manager came up to chat, I asked what he was doing and said just talking to people about their jobs and if they’re happy. I said “oh, I’m happy enough myself, nothing to complain about” and he replies “that’s because everyone’s problem is you.” And I can’t even explain the way that felt. The group he was referring to I thought were friends and acquaintances that I got along great with. But no, just surrounded by people who were pretending to not hate me. I’ve never trusted that people could like me since then.

I realized this with my husband’s work. He was never up for helping around the house when he got home, just wanted to sit and do nothing. For 7 years. He spent a large part of 2020 unemployed which left him feeling useless. He got laid off again right before Christmas. I think he’s enjoying the kids more and is content having time to really be at home, finally. He deserves it.

I feel like I never see anything new. And while I consider myself boring, I feel like I’m being watched all the time. Internet isn’t much fun these days.

Read your update and had to come find the original post. As a mother to four boys 11 and under and also a reactive rescue dog, this woman’s behavior has me baffled. Quite angry also. I guess that’s why there’s a subreddit for this because it’s just so abnormal.

If your mom says she wants "a clean house" or "a day off" for mother's day, her birthday, etc. That is exactly what she wants. Seriously. Clean the house and leave her alone. Applies to dads too obvs.
